It has been a rough year for DeAndre Yedlin. After leaving the Seattle Sounders roughly a year ago for the English Premier League, Yedlin has not made an impression on Tottenham to put him on the pitch. So on deadline day, Spurs decided to move the right back to Sunderland, where he will hopefully play and gain some experience in one of the top leagues in the world.

Yedlin was stuck in the depth charts at Spurs. Kyle Walker has been playing in top form and the signing of Kieran Trippier from Burnley has made it harder for Yedlin to get a chance onto the field.

There has been speculation for months about what Spurs were going to do with the American, many suggested a loan was the best move for him. It would allow him to develop and experience the Premier League and adapt to the league. It will also allow Spurs to evaluate him next year and see how he could fit into the team.

Spurs are hoping that Yedlin's loan to Sunderland will be like the one of Danny Rose. Rose was loaned to Sunderland in 2013-14 and he is now the starting left back.

Yedlin was linked to teams like Norwich City but it was Sunderland that made the deal for him. The Black Cats are a team that will likely be fighting relegation, and Yedlin will try to be a key part in Sunderland staying up in the BPL.

He will hope that he can crack the starting lineup as soon as possible. Sunderland is playing teams like Newcastle, West Brom and Bournemouth in the coming weeks. Those three teams and Sunderland will likely be in the relegation battle at the end of the season, and it is crucial that Sunderland get some points from those fixtures.
