This week’s Smackdown kicked off in Dayton, Ohio with a main event that lasted for forty five minutes. The WWE Universe hasn’t seen a main event that long since Chris Benoit and Triple H’s Ironman Match on RAW back in 2004. The rest of the night consisted of odd booking and the typical Divas match of today’s WWE.

The show opened with a backstage segment of several tag teams conversing with members of The Authority about the night’s main event. To our surprise Slator Gator was in the mix as well. The Authority stated that the entire match would be a lottery drawing, but this is The Authority and judging by the looks on Kane and Big Show’s faces, the WWE Universe spots the ulterior motive.

Bray Wyatt vs. R-Truth

The good thing about Smackdown is that it didn’t start with a Triple H monologue. Smackdown was strictly business when it kicked off with a singles match between Bray Wyatt and R-Truth.  Bray Wyatt of course won the match as it was just a way to build Wyatt’s character while Truth continues to be forgotten. The odd thing about this match is the competitors. Why make Bray Wyatt go against R-Truth after Wyatt has been in matches with Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler? The only explanation for this booking is that it was the show opener match.

Summer Rae vs. Paige

Next in the night’s events was a Divas match between Paige and Summer Rae. There’s really not much competition these days in the Divas division on the main roster. After all, Nikki Bella is the Divas Champion. So when a fan hears about the booking of this match they already know the winner.

With the Bella twins as guest commentators, Paige picked up the victory against the former dance partner of Fandango. The match was pretty even between the two women. Summer Rae even managed to put Paige in an Indian Deathlock but she had no choice but to tap out to the PTO.

Adam Rose vs. Fandango

The last singles match of the night and probably the most odd was Adam Rose against Fandango. Who do you root for when it’s Heel vs. Heel? The crowd seemed to cheer when it came to Fandango, but there’s no way he’ll become Face after this. The two squared off in a decent match with Rose having the upper hand, but it was Fandango who would win with hitting The Last Dance. The only reason this match was made was a way to show more tension between Adam Rose and his Rosebuds. Looks like the party will be coming to an end soon.

Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan, Tag Team Turmoil

To start the night’s main event was the team of Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns against Miz and Damien Mizdow. The friction that has been apparent between Miz and Mizdow was over shadowed by the friction between their opponents. During the height of the match Reigns tagged himself in to deliver a Superman Punch. Bryan returned the favor by tagging himself back in and delivering a running knee on Miz for the pin fall. Reigns and Bryan would enter a shouting match as their next opponents made their way to the ring.

Their next opponents were the Usos. The bitterness between Bryan and Reigns continued. Reigns disliked Bryan’s tactics for winning the match against his cousins but wouldn’t let his relations to his opponents prevent him from winning either. The match ignited with aerial assaults over the top rope, Superman Punches, Samoan Super Kicks and a Yes Lock for the win.

Next up to fight were the Los Matadores. Bryan refused to tag his partner into the match as he fought against his opponent single-handedly. This was obviously just Bryan’s way of one upping his partner. Bryan would beat Los Matadores by issuing another Yes Lock. Roman Reigns is not one to be outdone. Reigns tagged himself into the match to face their next opponents, Slator Gator.

Despite being out for a bit, Slator Gator continued the relationship they had before Heath Slator’s legal troubles. Roman Reigns waged a war against Slator Gator. Executing a Superman Punch and Spear earned Reigns the pin fall. Did Reigns and Bryan prove anything to each other?

The two men had to work together and get on the same page eventually as they faced off against The Ascension. Reigns and Bryan didn’t stand a chance against the tag team. The Ascension unleashed a ferocious beat down that would ultimately get them disqualified.

To no surprise, Big Show and Kane made their entrance as the next opponents in the Tag Team Turmoil. By now Bryan and Reigns had become a unit while Show and Kane seemed to be disintegrating. The two large athletes just couldn’t agree on anything and they bickered at each other like a married couple.

Big Show would tag himself in to put Bryan in a chokeslam, but Bryan countered this with a Yes Lock. Kane would break up the hold. The two Heels would continue to argue with each other until Big Show hit Kane with a KO Punch. Reigns would seize the opportunity by delivering a Spear and Bryan followed up with a running knee for the pinfall. Reigns and Bryan were able to win the match and in the end they stood in the ring together with newfound respect.
