Last night TNA Impact presented Bell To Bell, Kurt Angle defended his TNA Heavyweight Championship vs. brash and young EC3. In the end, EC3 defeated Angle to win the title, now that EC3 is champion is this a good move or a bad move by TNA.

In 2013 TNA showed a series of vignette that stated EC3 is coming to TNA. The company was building him up as the nephew of TNA president Dixie Carter. At Bound For Glory EC3 finally made his debut in TNA defeated Norv Fernum. Since then EC3 has never been pinned

EC3 had defeated many of TNA’s top stars since arriving in the company, for example, Sting, Kurt Angle, Bully Ray, and Rhyno. With TNA having EC3 beat all of these guys and never being pinned or submitted, the company is clearly trying to push him as the next big thing in the company.

There is no doubt that EC3 is one of the best heels in pro wrestling today, his gimmick of a spoiled rich kid makes a lot of people legitimately hate him. If you are hated on a weekly basis and you’re a bad guy you are doing something right with your gimmick.

EC3 and fellow superstar Rockstar Spud were partners for a good chunk of a year, but that when downhill fast after Dixie Carter got powebombed through a table by superstar Bully Ray. EC3 blamed almost everyone but himself for what happened to Carter, Rockstar Spud got tired of EC3 so that is when he turned face and turned his back on the nephew of the president of the company.

EC3 decided he needed a bodyguard, so he hired Tyrus for the job. It is a good heel move by the company, giving EC3 his own monster bodyguard. It just feels like it fit the gimmick really well.

EC3 had the potential to become the Heavyweight champion, since his debut. The company booked him well, pitting him up against all of the top superstars in the company and having him come out on top time and time again. There might be some people that might have a problem with EC3, being heavyweight champion. In this writers eyes what could possibly be wrong with him becoming champion. The way TNA booked him he was destined to be champion. The build to this moment was perfect.

With EC3 now being champion this is nothing but a good thing for TNA. It was obviously his time. It was only fitting for him to defeat Kurt Angle in the manner he did last night. If TNA continues EC3’s momentum, he will have a great reign as TNA Heavyweight Champion.

Look at a guy like Seth Rollins. WWE gave him a chance to become world champion and he has been a great heel champion. Now TNA is doing the same thing with EC3. Hopefully this title reign will be a long one. It would be a waste of time to give him the title for only a month or two. Only way for him to succeed is to have a long, dominate reign. EC3’s time is now.
