Manchester United's recent transfer business under Solskjaer has been nothing but fantastic, with key signings such as Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and arguably most importantly Bruno Fernandes all coming in, in the past 12 months.

However, this summer's business has been lacklustre so far with no signings made as of yet. United have been heavily linked with players such as Jadon Sancho and Gabriel Magalhaes this window but nothing as materialised yet leaving fans frustrated.

On Friday though, a report from the Serbian newspaper Republika suggested that United had won the race for Filip Stevanovic, a 17-year-old winger that plays for Partizan Belgrade. This sent frantic fans straight to YouTube to see what the player has to offer, as most United fans had never even heard of him.

Well in today's article we will be taking a look at United's newest signing and what we can expect from him.

  • His career so far

When he was a young boy, Filip joined his local team Vranic Arilje in Uzice, Serbia before joining the youth system at Partizan Belgrade at the age of nine in 2011.

In the summer of 2017, he joined Teleoptik on loan from Partizan and played there for a year for their u17's squad. Upon returning from loan a year later, he began training quite regularly with the first team and made his full first team debut against Rad in December of 2018. After making three full appearances in the 18/19 season for the Serbian outfit, he was permanently promoted to the first team for his impressive performances.

The youngster scored his first goal for Partizan in the Europa League qualifier round against Welsh side Connah's Quay. This made him Partizan's youngest scorer in all European competitions. He then made his first league start in the 19/20 season against Macva and marked it with a goal, an headed effort into the bottom left corner (as can be seen in the video below).

In the rest of the 19/20 season, Filip has impressed at his young age and has managed to score nine goals and assisted three times in all competitions, solidifying his starting spot in the squad at left-wing.

Filip featured against United in both ties in the Europa League group stages this season coming on as a late substitute in both games.

  • His transfer to United

It has been rumoured that teams such as Real Madrid, Juventus, Liverpool and Bayern Munich had been looking at signing him. However, it seems United are the first to his signature, the ever reliable Fabrizio Romano seemed to confirm this when a United fan asked if the rumours were true.

The teenager himself seemed to announce his own transfer in a cryptic Instagram post which can be seen below.

👀🤔

A post shared by Filip Stevanovic (@stevanovic10) on

As you can see he set the location of the picture to Old Trafford and the caption "👀🤔" pretty much confirms that the transfer is complete, if not, it is near completion.

It is rumoured that Filip will return to Partizan on loan from United for the remainder of the 20/21 season after the move to United is confirmed. This will gain him much needed experience playing first team football more often and also in Europe as Partizan will most likely be featuring in the Europa League again next season.

  • Conclusion

I believe that Filip Stevanovic could become a world-class winger in the future. He isn't the finished product just yet and he is only 17 so there is plenty of time to improve, however, 9 goals and 3 assists in his debut season is something to be proud of. Regardless of what league those goals and assists were in.

There's no coincidence that a lot of Europe's big guns were circling around him, he is an amazing prospect and has a glass ceiling potential. Here is a video of his best bits against United when he came on as a substitute.
