Fulham play their first away match on their return to the Premier League as they face Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Cottagers twice led against Liverpool through star man Aleksandar Mitrovic only to see the Reds peg them back both times, with Mohamed Salah equalizing with ten minutes to play.

A goal by Daniel Podence just six minutes into the match against Leeds put Wolves ahead, but Rodrigo equalized and an own goal by Rayan Ait-Nouri consigned the Midlands outfit to defeat.

On Fulham's last venture in the top-flight, their hosts did the double over them with a pair of 1-0 victories at home in October of 2020 and in London in April of 2021.

Team news

Wolverhampton Wanderers

The hosts look to be shorthanded as several key players are set to miss out with Raul Jimenez headlining that group, as last season's top scorer has a knee injury.

Forward Adama Traore (hamstring), full-back Nelson Semedo (hamstring) and midfielder Joao Moutinho (ankle) are all facing late fitness tests, putting their status in doubt.

Goncalo Guedes was signed from Spanish giants Valencia and looks set to make his debut as Wolves' lone striker in Bruno Lage's 4-2-3-1 formation.

Fulham

Manor Solomon, who joined the Cottagers from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, has been ruled out as the Israeli is suffering from a knee injury.

Harry Wilson is also set to miss out through a knee problem while a late decision will be made on left-back Joe Bryan as he continues his recovery from a wrist fracture.

Nathan Chalobah is set to return from an injury suffered in a match played behind closed doors on July 31.

Key players

Goncalo Guedes (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

The Portugese winger scored 28 times in 146 appearances for Valencia, helping them win the Copa Del Rey title in 2019, with victory over Barcelona in the final among his highlights.

He instantly becomes Wolves' most important player with the absence of Jimenez and his dribbling ability, which is enhanced by being able to position himself in the right spot, is among his many strengths.

How he develops chemistry with the midfield, in particular Podence, will also play a key role in the success the club will have.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham)

He picked up where he left off last year, when he smashed the Championship goal-scoring record with 43, by netting both of the Cottagers' goals against Liverpool.

While the Serb has scored for fun in the second tier, he only found the back of the net three times during Fulham's last top-flight campaign after scoring 11 times in 2018-19.

Manager Marco Silva mentioned that Mitrovic is "A striker who can add something different. With or without the ball, he is working hard", showing the 28-year old is always looking to add more to his game.
