York boss John Askey believes it is "very difficult" to get his players back up and running with just one day of rest, despite a positive win on Saturday.

His Minstermen look to claim a second home win of the season just two days after they picked up an initial away victory at Maidenhead.

  • On the one-day break

Askey did have something to say when asked how he will get his players back and ready to go with just a day's preparation.

"It's very difficult. What I find amazing is that some teams are allowed to play on a Friday," the City boss told Jorvik Radio.

Their opponents Oldham were one of the four National League sides that did play on Friday night:

"Oldham have got an extra day's break, and we've got to travel and then play on the Monday."

  • Doubtful on the sidelines

City have quite an extensive injury list at the moment, with Lenell John-Lewis, Alex Whittle, Adam Crookes, Michael Duckworth, Luke James, Gus Mafuta and Paddy McLaughlin all a doubt for Monday.

The manager didn't give much away, answering, "we're not sure (whether anyone is close to coming back), it's doubtful, and we won't rush anybody back, so we'll just have to see tomorrow."

  • Bumper crowd impact

The Latics have already sold out their away allocation and it is guaranteed that many York fans will get behind their team for this one.

There is potential for a record breaking highest ever attendance in a regular league game at the LNER Community Stadium too.

"It'll be a good atmosphere to play in. As a player, you want to play in front of as many supporters as you can.

"If we can get our fans going and get the place rocking, then it'll be a good game to play in."
