Robin Le Normand might miss Thursday's match at Old Trafford due to a physical concern, according to COPE.

The French centre-back allegedly has a "bone damage due to mechanical stress in the second metatarsal of the left foot," according to the Spanish outlet.

This is bad news for Real Sociedad prior to their Europa League match against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the first game of both teams European Campaign.

To put it another way, he is a "doubt" for the game against Manchester United which could be a pivotal game for both teams in the fight to get out of the group.

That's a major setback for Real Sociedad, as Le Normand has been a key member of their defensive unit and has played the full 90 minutes in each of their four La Liga games this season.

Real Sociedad sit 9th currently in La Liga after two wins, one draw and one loss. With United not having greatest of records against Spanish opposition in Europe, they could prove a real test.

They last faced each other in the Europa League in the round of 32 in 2021 with Manchester United coming out 4-0 winners on aggregate.

How it looks heading into Thursday?

The first match of Group E of the Europa League, which also includes Omonia from Cyprus taking on Sheriff from Moldova, is on Thursday against Manchester United.

Real Sociedad had a respectable La Liga season, finishing with seven points after four games and only losing to Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Meanwhile, Manchester United has won four straight Premier League games, most recently defeating Arsenal on Sunday.
