Borussia Dortmund will make the trip to Anfield to face Liverpool in a winner-takes-all clash in the Europa League quarter-finals.

Former boss Jürgen Klopp took charge of Liverpool at the start of the season, and welcomes his former side BVB to Anfield for the first time as Redmen manager, after playing out a 1-1 draw at the Signal Iduna Park last week.

Divock Origi's goal kicked off proceedings and got the Reds that vital away goal, but Mats Hummels steamed in to score a crucial equaliser for the home side in front of 80,000 black-and-yellow fans.

Liverpool's win at home to Stoke City at the weekend was their first win in five competitive matches, although they did it resounding fashion thrashing the Potters 4-1 at home thanks to an Origi brace, with complementing goals from Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno.

Domestically, they sit in eighth place in the Premier League with 48 points from 31 league games, though Klopp would hope that having games in hand on the teams above means they can make an assault on the top five.

To reach this stage of the competition, 'Pool have battled off Rubin Kazan, Bordeaux and FC Sion in the group stages, before a famous 3-1 aggregate victory over rivals Manchester United in their first European meeting.

Dortmund will have to hand Liverpool their first defeat in the Europa League (or draw 1-1) in order to avoid exit, but will take encouragement from having taken 10 of the last possible 12 Bundesliga points available.

In their last match, BVB were held to a draw against arch enemy Schalke at the Veltins Arena, having led twice but having Shinji Kagawa and Mattias Ginter goals cancelled out by Leroy Sané and a Klaas-Jan Huntelaar penalty.

Despite that, they sit second in the league with 68 points from 29 games and a +39 goal difference, and continentally saw off Porto and Tottenham Hostpur in the knockout stages.

For Jürgen Klopp, the big selection dilemma remains whether to pick Origi or Sturridge up front, with the former having scored the away goal at Dortmund and the latter having scored on Saturday.

Emre Can returns to the side having served suspension against Stoke on Sunday, while Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren are expected to be the centra; defensive partnership having impressed in the first leg. Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Lucas Leiva will all fight for a starting spot in midfield.

Neven Subotic will miss the rest of the season for BVB due to thrombosis, while it is anticipated that Roman Weidenfeller will start in goals as cup goalkeeper over Roman Bürki.

Henrik Mkhitaryan, Ilkay Gündogan, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marco Reus should all return to the starting line-up after being rested at the weekend.
