5. Divas Impress

Fast Lane provided fans with not just one but two divas matches, proving that the women can easily stand alongside their male counterparts. The tag team match featuring Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks (two ladies rumored to be heading for a title shot at WrestleMania) taking on Team B.A.D was the opener for the night, which is incredibly rare for WWE but shows the faith the company now has in their ladies.

All four women certainly delivered, putting on an excellent performance as they went back and forth with each athlete getting their time to shine and showcase what they are capable of. Despite being defeated, both Tamina and Naomi looked strong as they stepped up to match the high level of performance that the two former NXT divas have become known for.

Show openers are expected to be fast paced and are normally used as a way to get the crowd going (something that seemed to hardly happen all night) and the ladies certainly did that, the final few minutes of the match saw the WWE Universe fully invested into the hard work they were seeing, and it was a fun and fresh way to star a special event.

Whilst the tag team match was fun it was the Divas Championship match later on in the night that really stood out, with both Charlotte and Brie Bella working incredibly hard to put on an entertaining match worthy of a championship bout, and that is exactly what they did.

The Bella twin has improved ten fold since she first walked through the doors of the WWE, and if this is to be her last match then she certainly went out with... flair (I couldn't help it). But the champion was equally as impressive in her defense and the fact she didn't have to rely too heavily on her father, Ric Flair made the match even better and overall it was a good night for the divas division.

4. Mauro Ranallo Is The Future

The commentary in the WWE over the past few years has been weaker than it has ever been, gone are the days of good old JR making fans interested in even the most pointless of situations (he certainly could have helped last nights R Truth segment) instead we are given bland opinions and that's only when the commentary team are actually talking about the wrestling, which has become a rarity.

But there is shining beacon of hope in the form of WWE's newest commentator, Mauro Ranallo who has been nothing short of excellent since his arrival in the company and he proved once again why he is the best commentator (already) in the company during the Fast Lane Pre-Show, where he was brought out to commentate on the United States Championship match.

Ranallo did a fantastic job during the match and made it seem exciting and interesting, because he genuinely sounds invested in what is happening in the match which is in stark comparison to his colleagues. He was replaced for the main show by Michael Cole who at one stage referred to Ryback as being similar to a cruiserweight wrestler, somehow this author doesn't think we will see 'The Big Guy' in the upcoming cruiserweight series on the WWE Network.

It was just further proof that Ranallo is the future of commentary for the company and that he needs to be brought to special events as soon as possible (WrestleMania preferably) where he will only continue to improve and develop.

The Wyatt Cycle Strikes Again

What is the 'Wyatt cycle' you may be asking, well it's the cycle that they have been on ever since they debuted on the main roster, where they start a feud with dominance and confusing promo's, managing to look like a threat only to lose.

Which is of course what happened at Fast Lane, in one of the strangest booking decisions the WWE has made with the group in a long time, as they were beaten by a team that consisted of two superstars on the 'fast lane' to retirement, and another who is a mid-card talent at best.

The Wyatt Family who according to reports, were headed to the showcase of immortals to clash with non other than Brock Lesnar were made to suffer a defeat, yet again even though they have done nothing but dominate the three 'Titans' since the Royal Rumble.

It's a decision that made very little sense as must would assume that the Wyatt's are the future and are in a desperate need to win a feud and even though they protected Bray himself and Braun Strowman, the defeat still hurts them and makes them appear weak. Taking the group seriously as a major threat is becoming harder with every feud they seem to undertake and it will now be very interesting to see where they go for WrestleMania (hopefully not a rematch).

2. A Phenomenal Match

Ever since he debuted in the WWE, AJ Styles has been one of the hottest superstars on a weekly basis whether it's RAW or Smackdown he has gained fantastic reactions and put on impressive performances. Working with Chris Jericho has been useful for both men, as Y2J was in need of a feud to make his return seem worthwhile and the pairing is something diehard wrestling fans have been wanting to see for years.

Both walked into the match at Fast Lane with a victory each, making this the decider for the feud and with two great matches behind them the pressure was on, thankfully for the fans they lived up to expectations and put on arguably the match of the night.

They left everything in the ring and in the end the former TNA man walked away with a submission victory, but Jericho looked fantastic in defeat and even managed to kick out of the Styles Clash, but the victory was important for Styles (his first ever at a special event) as it established him as a top star annd ensure he won his first feud with the company.

1. The Roman Empire Grows

There were many different ways the WWE could have gone with the main event and the potential heading into the match was really high, sadly the company decided to choose the predictable option, with Roman Reigns defeating Dean Ambrose clean to head to the main event of WrestleMania.

That's right, no heel turn for either Ambrose or Reigns and not even a run in from the Wyatt's to deal with Lesnar (casting doubt over any potential match between them) and in the end the fans left the event deflated and frustrated at the product, having booed Reigns out of the building, regardless of the fact WWE have positioned him as the top baby face in the company.

But whether fans are happy or not the Roman empire took another step in the direction to the top of the mountain, as the main event of WrestleMania is now confirmed to be Triple H - Roman Reigns (Woo...) for the WWE Heavyweight Championship, and Vince McMahon's determination to make him the next John Cena is almost finalized.

Sadly it seems to be a very predictable match for the biggest show of the year, and there is a large chance that Reigns could be booed again at the AT&T Stadium which would make the whole situation an even bigger mess than it already is, but the WWE is going with it so strap on because the Road to WrestleMania is now firmly in full gear.
