West Bromwich Albion registered their first league win of the season in emphatic fashion, beating Hull City at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies grabbed the game's opening goal through a Callum Elder own goal and managed a further two shortly after halftime with John Swift and Darnell Furlong's long-range efforts.

Karlan Grant then notched his second strike of the campaign from the penalty spot before Oscar Estupinan added two consolations on either side of Dara O'Shea's goal.

  • Albion find their scoring touch

Before Saturday, Albion had only scored four in their first five games of the campaign.

Steve Bruce's side were struggling for goals, and the confidence needed to tuck away their chances.

The Baggies were interested in Manchester City striker Liam Delap who ended up joining Stoke City on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

However, Bruce's striker woes were soon cast aside for the time being as his side put five past the Tigers on Saturday.

The creativity behind the number nine was needed in order to source opportunities to score.

Both opposition goals in their 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers came from outside the area, with both Ben Brereton Diaz and Sam Gallagher scoring via Rovers' only two shots on target.

Albion displayed similar finishing ability in Saturday's victory and if they can keep it up, injured striker Daryl Dike may not be such a huge miss.

  • Estupinan shows promise

Hull's new signing Estupinan looked a real handful at The Hawthorns and marked a promising performance with two goals.

Despite both strikes coming late on in the game, the Colombian showed admirable determination to score.

The strikers first came as Benjamin Tetteh squared the ball across the box to tap in at the back post.

Estupinan's brace was a superb piece of competitive play within the box, as he held off Semi Ajayi to stroke home.

He could well have had a hat-trick as well when David Button denied him with a smart stop from a one-on-one situation.

The two goals on Saturday takes his total up to four in five for the season, earning plaudits from Tigers fans and pundits alike.

If the forward keeps up this run of goalscoring form he could propel Shota Arveladze's outfit up the league.

  • Diangana continues good form

Grady Diangana's promising start to the season continued on Saturday with a fine showing.

Hull's defenders seemed to back off the winger slightly, in comparison to those of Blackburn and Cardiff City, who were keen to close him down at every opportunity.

Diangana revelled in the space given to him and exploited the pockets left open to him by the opposition.

His assist for Swift's low-driven strike showed exactly that, as he was allowed a half-space on the edge of the area to dribble infield and pass the ball to the goalscorer.

The former West Ham United man could prove to be a huge part of any possible promotion push mounted this season.

  • Hull hampered by injury troubles

Hull's good start to the season has been stuttering since they were burdened with an injury crisis.

Allahyar Sayyadmanesh, Jean Michel Seri, Greg Docherty, Brandon Fleming and James Scott were all simultaneously sidelined for the defeat.

Arveladze will hope he is able to field his best team in order to prevent a slump in form.
