New West Bromwich Albion head coach Carlos Corberan will take charge of the club for the first time when they face Sheffield United on Saturday.

The new Albion boss was appointed on Tuesday night and will look to begin his reign with victory over the Blades.

It follows Steve Bruce's sacking after a dismal start to the season leaving the Baggies inside the bottom three.

But Corberan now has a huge task to turn their form around and kickstart the promotion push that they should have begun at the beginning of the campaign.

The maiden outing for the new boss could bring with it some wholesale changes as he looks to open his account with success.

Corberan favoured a 3-4-3 formation during his time at Huddersfield Town and will likely opt for this in his first game in charge.

Kyle Bartley will be suspended for this one after receiving two yellow cards against Millwall.

Conor Townsend could regain his place at wing-back after losing out to Adam Reach ahead of the defeat at the Den.

Meanwhile, Brandon Thomas-Asante might be given the nod up front as the more physical striking option available to the Spaniard.

Jayson Molumby will also hope to be recalled to the starting 11 after losing his place in recent weeks.

Sheffield United

Rhys Norrington-Davies was confirmed to be out for a lengthy spell which could include missing the FIFA World Cup in November after picking up a hamstring injury in the early stages of their defeat to Coventry City.

Midfielder Sander Berge suffered an ankle injury in the last minute of their defeat to QPR at the beginning of the month.

The Norwegian sustained ligament damage in the challenge and boss Paul Heckingbottom will be without him until after the World Cup.

Duo Enda Stevens and Ciaran Clark may be handed returns to the side after coming back from injury recently.

  • Likely lineups

West Brom

(3-4-3) Palmer, Pieters, Kelly, O'Shea, Townsend, Yokuslu, Molumby, Furlong, Diangana, Thomas-Asante, Wallace

Sheffield United

(3-5-2) Davies, Egan, Basham, Ahmedhozic, Osborn, Fleck, Norwood, Baldock, McAtee, Sharp, Brewster

  • Key players

Jed Wallace - West Brom

Albion's best performer so far this season has looked low on confidence in recent weeks.

The winger has proved to be a shrewd addition to their ranks and adds a constant barrage of crosses to the side.

However, Corberan may soon find a different role for the 28-year-old to play as he looks to shift the style into something more detailed.

But still, Wallace should still be as important as ever moving forwards.

Oliver Norwood - Sheffield United

The midfielder once again has been consistent in the EFL Championship for the Blades.

Whilst still providing those creative contributions, Norwood is a solid base in midfield for them to build their attacks from.

He will undoubtedly be essential to any possible promotion push.
