Following a mammoth 6-1 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United have had time during the international break to reflect on the result and will now look to bounce back against Newcastle United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may reshape the team with Anthony Martial suspended and Harry Maguire possibly being given some time out of the spotlight.

Here is how the Man United side could take shape.

GK - David De Gea

Despite failing to keep a clean sheet this season and conceding six goals against Tottenham in the last game before the international break, David De Gea has not really put a foot wrong and cannot be blamed directly for any of the goals.

Coming back from international duty, the Spaniard is expected to keep his place in the side and the faith of his manager as Dean Henderson continues to breathe down his neck.

A new defensive lineup?

CB - Victor Lindelof

The centre-back situation is one that is increasingly dividing opinions between United fans with Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly all unable to post positive performances so far this campaign.

Having been dropped for the game against Spurs, Lindelof could come into the team in place of Maguire who could probably do with a rest and some time out of the spotlight following his sending off for England against Denmark during the week.

CB - Eric Bailly

When fit Bailly is arguably the best centre-back at the club and although he perhaps did not have the best of games last time out, the Ivory Coast international has certainly got the ability to become a regular starter granted he stays injury-free.

There were more injury fears surrounding the 26-year old due to him being withdrawn from his nation's 1-1 draw with Belgium due to a hamstring problem but is said to be fit to face Newcastle.

CB - Luke Shaw

With speculation suggesting that Maguire will be given some time off following the latest mistake (red card) in this dark period of his career, Solskjaer may decide to go with a 3-5-2 formation with Luke Shaw slotting in at left centre-back rather than trust the untested partnership of Bailly and Lindelof.

Shaw has looked promising in this role in the past and with question marks over his attacking ability, this more defensive switch could be beneficial for the player as well as the team.

RWB - Aaron Wan-Bissaka

It could be argued that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the best defensive full-back in the game and despite his ability to get forward being called into question, he could be shifted to a more attacking right wing-back role to accommodate the possibility of a back three.

While there is no doubt that his strengths come in the defensive side of his game, a move to a position further forward could be the encouragement he needs to give him the confidence to take his man on and get some crosses into the box.

CM - Paul Pogba

It is still unclear whether Paul Pogba is up to full fitness, however, 90 minutes against Portugal and a substitute appearance against Croatia in the Nations League were positive.

The Jury is still out on Pogba at United, but the Frenchman has proved he has the talent and when he is on form he is arguably the most important player on the pitch. He is likely to get the nod against Newcastle, the only issue will be which Pogba shows up.

CM - Donny van de Beek

Donny van de Beek could be in contention for his first Premier League start this weekend. The summer signing has had to settle for some starts in the cup games since he arrived from Ajax but that could change this week.

With three centre-backs in the defence as well as the added reinforcements of the wing-backs when defending, there is licence for some more freedom in the midfield and coming off the back of a goal for the Netherlands against Italy, Van de Beek could be utilised from the start at St James' Park.

Potential debut

LWB - Alex Telles

Having signed on deadline day from Porto, upon returning from international duty with Brazil, Alex Telles could go straight into the team if Shaw is moved to left centre-back.

Amid a poor summer transfer window and disappointing deadline day, Telles did manage to extract some excitement from United fans who have seen what he has to offer both in attack and defence.

If the Brazilian is given his debut from the off it could lift some of the gloom surrounding the fanbase at the moment.

AM - Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes could be a man on a mission this weekend as he looks to put some of the negative press and apparent false rumours behind him.

Recent reports in the press stated that Fernandes was at odds with his manager and some of the dressing room following his half-time substitution against Spurs. However, these reports have since been debunked and the midfield maestro could mean business in this game as he looks to bring back some positive spotlight on himself and the team.

ST - Mason Greenwood

Much like the majority of the team, Mason Greenwood has not been posting the blinding performances that fans had become accustomed to post-lockdown last season.

Having only scored against Luton Town in the League Cup this season, the 19-year old will be itching to get his name on the scoresheet and with Martial suspended and new singing Edinson Cavani still in quarantine, a strike partnership of Greenwood and Marcus Rashford could be selected in favour of Odion Ighalo whose performances have not been up to scratch as of late.

ST - Marcus Rashford

Coming off the back of a goal against Belgium and being awarded an MBE for his remarkable fighting child food poverty, Rashford will be bursting with confidence that he can carry into this game.

Knowing the type of player Rashford is, he more than anyone will put his all into bouncing back from the 6-1 defeat in the last game and could enjoy an exciting game alongside Greenwood.
