Ben Garner's Charlton Athletic play host to Derby County this weekend in what is the pick of the matches in England's third tier.

The Rams will be hoping to make it two wins in as many games whilst Charlton will be looking for their first three points of the campaign.

Team news

Charlton

The Addicks had to settle for a point on their opening day visit to Accrington Stanley - debutant Miles Leaburn's injury time goal at the Wham Stadium was cancelled out even later by Korede Adedoyin as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw. They do not appear to have any new injury problems - and Garner admits he is looking forward to coming up against the Rams.

"I can't wait for next week," he told Charlton TV after their draw with Stanley.

"It would have been lovely to have been coming back with three points and have that momentum going into the game, but as I've just said there to the players, if can we win next week that becomes a great point.''

Summer signings Jojo Woolacott, Stephen Sessegnon and defender Eoghan O'Connell all impressed on their first appearances for the club, as did Scott Fraser, signed from Ipswich Town and who also scored the opening goal last weekend. Garner brought in Jack Payne from former club Swindon Town over the summer, and the playmaker was brought on three minutes from the end and had enough time to make an instant impact and provide the assist for Leaburn, so he will no doubt be pushing for a start.

Derby County

It is safe to say Rams' fans have had quite the summer, with the clubs very existence looking in doubt for some time. However local businessman David Clowes finally completed a takeover of the club and the club got off to the perfect start with a 1-0 win against Oxford United in front of a bumper crowd of 31,053 at Pride Park - with an impressive 3,000 + away following too. Summer signing Conor Hourihane scored an outstanding winning goal ten minutes from time.

Like Garner, Interim Derby manager Liam Rosenior has a full squad to choose from. Rosenior brought in 11 new signings over the summer, if you include newest recruit Lewis Dobbin - signed on a season long loan from Everton. He will be pushing to feature along with two other new signings James Chester and David McGoldrick with both raring to go but lacking in match fitness. Expect Louis Sibley to play more of a role too, he came off the bench to set up Hourihane's winner.

Likely lineups

Charlton (4-5-1)

Woolacott; Clare, Inniss, O'Connell, Sessegnon; Fraser, Morgan, Payne, Dobson, Jaiyesimi; Stockley (C).

Derby (4-3-3)

Wildsmith; Cashin, Roberts, Davies (C), Knight; Bird, Hourihane, Sibley; Barkhuizen, Mendez-Laing, Collins.

Key players

Jayden Stockley

The Addicks' top goalscorer last season with 13 goals from 33 appearances, Stockley is now club captain and burdens a lot more responsibility for after the departure of the likes of Conor Washington and Josh Davison - with Chuks Aneke and Miles Leaburn the only other forwards at the club. He will certainly need to improve on his 21/22 goals tally if they are to make a serious challenge for promotion this season.

Conor Hourihane

Like much of the Rams squad, it is littered with quality that has played in the Premier League and the second tier. Hourihane is one of those and his free kick taking prowess is something most League One clubs should fear, alongside his ability to score a goal outside of the penalty area - which Oxford United have come to know over the past week. His quality on the ball and just his presence within the Rams squad is vital for a potential top two position - which is very much possible if the majority of Rosenior's squad can stay fit.
