Brentford began their second season in the Premier League with a stirring 2-2 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes opened the scoring in the 33rd minute as Timothy Castagne headed home from a James Maddison corner and they doubled the lead just 25 seconds into the second half through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after Youri Tielemans had hit the post.

Brentford cut the lead in half as a pass from Rico Henry found Ivan Toney, who finished from close range and after hitting the post shortly after, substitute Josh Dasilva equalized with four minutes remaining, his first top-flight goal securing a point.

Story of the match

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers handed the captain's armband to Jonny Evans with Danny Ward starting in goal after Kasper Schmeichel departed the club.

Ben Mee and Aaron Hickey were given full debuts for Brentford with Keane Lewis-Potter named amongst the substitutes.

The Foxes had much of the ball in the opening stages of the contest with left-back Daniel Amartey having a go from 30 yards, going just wide.

Ward's first action in front of his new supporters was to cling on to a near-post volley by Bryan Mbeumo after he had received a pass from Vitaly Janelt.

Around the quarter of an hour mark, the hosts had a couple of chances, as Tielemans was denied by David Raya and Castagne crossed for Dewsbury-Hall, only a clearance by Janelt could prevent a goal-scoring opportunity.

Toney should have opened the scoring on 18 minutes after he touched the ball into his own path and was one-on-one with Ward, but after a poor first touch, the Leicester 'keeper saved with his feet.

After Maddison went close, his next action proved more decisive. A corner sent to the near post was met by Castagne and he flicked past Raya from six yards out.

Straight from the ensuing kick-off, Mathias Jensen played Yoane Wissa in behind the Foxes’ defense and his cross was meant for Toney, but Evans was on hand to cut it out.

With five minutes left in the first half, Maddison sent a volley straight at Raya and Tielemans struck the base of the right post and a crucial recovery tackle by Pontus Jansson prevented Dewsbury-Hall from netting Leicester's second.

Half-time: Leicester City 1-0 Brentford

Within 30 seconds of the restart, the Foxes did find a second. A clearance by Mee landed at the feet of Jamie Vardy and he laid it off to Dewsbury-Hall, who struck from 30 yards out.

Four minutes after Lewis-Potter and Dasilva came on, Brentford halved the deficit. A clipped ball from Henry in the middle found Toney, who took one touch and made no mistake.

Leicester almost immediately restored their two-goal advantage as Maddison's free-kick was nodded onto the post by Wesley Fofana and then into the waiting hands of Raya.

On 72 minutes, the hosts made their first change with Dewsbury-Hall making way for Patson Daka.

Brentford then began to pile on more pressure in search of an equalizer. Toney flicked on to Wissa, who shot high and wide and Mbuemo's cross found the Bees' frontman, who headed the wrong side of the post.

In the 86th minute, the visitors deservedly leveled. Dasilva cut in from the right, made his way into the penalty area and his left-footed strike curled in at the far post.
