Wolves:

Jose Sá - 7/10

Did well when called upon, making a good save from a powerful Saint-Maximin effort late on. No notable errors and had confident handling of the ball. Couldn't do much about the strike for the equaliser.

Nelson Semedo - 7/10

Booked half an hour in for impeding Saint-Maximin, however handled him fairly well all afternoon. Decent going forward, putting in a few teasing crosses.

Nathan Collins - 6/10

The ex-Burnley man had a good game on the whole, despite an error early-on that led to an effort on goal from Newcastle. Dealt with ex-teammate Chris Wood's physical presence pretty well.

WOLVES 1-1 NEWCASTLE: GOALS AND HIGHLIGHTS

Max Kilman - 7/10

Assured and steady at the back in this game. Rarely caught out and, just like his defensive partner, handled Wood confidently. Growing into one of the first names on the Wolves team sheet since breaking into the first 11.

Jonny - 7/10

Exciting when he makes his bursts forward, as expected now from the Spaniard, and kept a confident Miguel Almiron away from goal.

Matheus Nunes - 6/10

Had a quiet game, not pulling the midfield strings as some thought he would just yet. Missed a header in the first half which was just taken away from him unfortunately. Still is technically gifted on the ball and could dictate the tempo of games given the chance. Expect to see him grow into this Wolves side.

Ruben Neves - 9/10

A wonderful display from the skipper. Showed off the high quality of his passing range and did what he does best by firing in a gorgeous effort from range. Broke up play well at points resulting in a great all round performance. Begs the question of how many seasons he's got left in the Midlands?

João Moutinho - 6/10

The veteran midfielder displayed his usual consistency, breaking up play where needed and offering a wise head in the centre of the park. Nothing to shout about in this game and was replaced late on as Wolves attempted to see out the game.

Pedro Neto - 7/10

Looked one of the most dangerous players on the pitch when Wolves were on the counter. Put some testing balls into the mixer and had a couple of promising efforts on goal. Will be gutted to have had his assist, and potential winner, chalked off for a foul on his behalf.

Raúl Jiménez - 7.5/10

The Mexican did reasonably well with the tools he had. Troubled the Newcastle centre backs on a few occasions despite not having an clear-cut chances. Showed his creative side by providing a chance or two for his team mates. Did his best to test Nick Pope but without much luck.

Goncalo Guedes - 7/10

Not a bad game from the one of the latest Portuguese faces to walk through the Molineux doors. Got the assist for the goal by spotting Neves where he is most dangerous - on the edge of the box - and set up a shot for Neto very early on.

Hwang Hee-Chan (84') - N/A

Leander Dendoncker (90+9') - N/A

Newcastle:

Nick Pope - 7/10

Was his usual dependable self. Beaten by a Neves worldie but gathered plenty of other shots comfortably. Nothing spectacular but did his job well.

Kieran Trippier - 7/10

The captain led by example, trying to nudge the team forward in the way he played. Keen to swing crosses in to the target Chris Wood when he had the chance (13 times).

NEWCASTLE'S NEW SIGNING ALEXANDER ISAK: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Fabian Shär - 6/10

Missed the free kick which turned out to be the final kick of the game. Booked for a tackle on Neto which VAR considered changing to a red (they didn't). Didn't kill anyone but not his greatest display.

Sven Botman - 7/10

A sound head who got a crucial touch on a cross which Nunes almost certainly would've buried. Could've been all points dropped for the Magpies if it weren't for him.

Dan Burn - 6/10

Didn't offer a lot going forward but also didn't let much past him. His physicality was definitely advantage against Wolves' front line.

Joelinton - 7.5/10

Everyone's said it, but this guy is a completely different person to the Brazilian we had before us under Steve Bruce. Put himself about in the midfield putting out fires here and there. Filled in for the missing Bruno Guimarães as best he could.

Joe Willock - 6/10

Missed probably the best chance of the game by poking the ball wide from close range. Made some decent runs in and around the area. Neves' shot for the goal went through him as he failed to block it before ending up in the net.

Sean Longstaff - 6/10

Had big shoes to fill with Guimarães absent. Couldn't quite reach Bruno's heights. Spread the ball wide when needed as he sat on the edge of the box during early Toon attacks. Nothing criminal but not on the level this Newcastle side will want to be this season.

Allan Saint-Maximin - 8.5/10

An exceptional talent who couldn't quite break down the Wolves defence, until he dispatched a peach of a volley to save his team from their first loss of the campaign. Had a few earlier efforts on goal, but his volley will be spoken about for days. Impeccable technique.

Chris Wood - 6/10

Tried his best to hold up the ball and provide an outlet but just couldn't quite be the force he was during his time Burnley. Can be useful for getting other players involved in attacks but doesn't have the finishing touch or adept movement at the moment. Can't see him being a long-term investment for Newcastle.

Miguel Almiron - 7/10

Like a little Paraguayan terrier; he never seems short of energy. Troubled the full backs at points but often resorted to setting up Trippier for a cross. Can't say he didn't try.

Substitutes:

Matt Targett (65') - 6/10

Was a presence down the left where Burn wasn't, but was ultimately ineffective in the final third though.

Ryan Fraser (65') - 7/10

Was a handy pair of fresh legs. Tried to claim for a penalty to no effect, but made himself a nuisance for the Wolves back line, making runs for his side to get up the pitch.

Elliot Anderson (84') - N/A

Jacob Murphy (84') - N/A
