The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, which took place this Sunday (27), ended with excitement until the last lap. Charles Leclerc and Max Vestappen battled to the very end for first place in the second round of the current Formula 1 season.

Ferrari and Red Bull once again duelled on the front row, just as they did during most of the Bahrain Grand Prix last week. This time all four cars came to an end and the happy ending went to Max Verstappen's team, which won the prize in Saudi Arabia.

The driver duo, who have been rivals since karting, clashed over the last ten laps. With overtaking on both sides, strategic fights for mobile wing openings, and a positive outcome for the reigning world champion, Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen ended the second stage of the season in style.

On the final lap, the Monegasque stole the extra point for fastest lap from Red Bull, while the Dutchman saw the checkered flag first. Right behind Charles Leclerc was another Ferrari, that of Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard took third place, leaving Mexico's Sergio Pérez behind.

  • Other highlights

  • Mercedes put both cars in points situation again. George Russell was fifth, with no clashes throughout the race. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton moved up positions and took tenth place in Saudi Arabia.
  • Haas, who only had one driver in the race, also scored. After the accident in qualifying on Saturday (26), Mick Schumacher did not participate in the Grand Prix. His teammate Kevin Magnussen finished eighth.
  • At the start of the race, Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso fought over every inch of the track in Saudi Arabia. The Alpine duo provided the first thrills of the race. The Frenchman was sixth and the Spaniard had to abandon the race at the end due to car trouble.
  • Besides the two-time world champion, Alex Albon, Valtteri Bottas, Daniel Ricciardo and Nicholas Latifi were also out early. The Canadian Williams driver had a solo accident and the race went through a safety car period until the vehicle was removed. Without power, Yuki Tsunoda did not even race.
