With Michy Batshuayi close to returning to Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace have the potential to push for a top 10 finish in the Premier League this season, having already signed Nathan Ferguson and Eberechi Eze.

The Belgian international is set to leave Chelsea having slipped further down the pecking order with the signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig. Batshuayi is close to sealing a loan deal with the option to buy at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Palace have also been linked with many others as they look to improve on their flat end to the season which saw them gain four points in their last nine fixtures.

Who do Palace still need to sign? Well, there is still some work to do for Roy Hodgson's men before deadline day.

  • Strikers

With Batshuayi almost set to sign, Palace may have this position sorted for this season with Jordan Ayew providing another good option upfront.

Alexander Sorloth is a player that Palace should be looking to keep this season after his wonderful goalscoring form at Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor. Leipzig are rumoured to be interested in the Norwegian's signature and Palace will need to make sure that Sorloth doesn't become a missed opportunity.

Brazilian striker Evanilson would have been another good option for Palace, but it looks like Evanilson is set to join Portuguese champions, Porto from Fluminense.

Another good young option for Palace is Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster. Brewster has turned a few heads after his impressive loan spell at Swansea, with Brewster's help, the Welsh outfit were one game away from the Championship play-off final.

  • Winger

Bright Osayi-Samuel had an offer accepted from Belgian club Club Brugge back in July, for a fee of £4.7 million.

However, the 22-year-old has just 12 months left on his contract and has rejected their offers of a new deal. Palace have made an approach but Rangers are also interested in the young winger. It is rumoured that Osayi-Samuel is stalling on a new contract at QPR, in the hope that the Eagles make a bid for him.

Having missed out on Evanilson, Palace have turned their attentions to Luis Henrique from Botafogo. There has been no bid submitted yet.

Jeremie Boga is another player that Palace are tracking. The Sassuolo winger is rumoured to be a replacement for star man Wilfried Zaha, who could leave before the end of the window.

  • Goalkeeper

Alex Bass from Portsmouth seems to be the only name to have popped up for Palace.

The 22-year-old looks set to stay at Portsmouth with the south coast club not keen on selling their star goalkeeper. This is not good news for Palace, as they need a replacement for either Wayne Hennessey or Stephen Henderson.

Both goalkeepers are not good enough for the Premier League and Palace will need to find someone fast, otherwise Hennessey will be trusted as the club's number two, behind first-choice, Vicente Guaita.

  • Centre-Half

Gary Cahill, James Tomkins, Scott Dann, Mamadou Sakho and Martin Kelly aren't getting any younger with Palace boasting the oldest defence in the league last season.

Ferguson will help to bring down the ageing defence but Palace need more than one player to introduce youth in the back four. Jean-Claude Billong offers an excellent younger option in defence. The 26-year-old is believed to be well-suited to the English game. The Frenchman plays for a Serie B team, Salernitana.

Billong's physique has been likened to former QPR and Blackburn Rovers defender Chris Samba. Standing at 6ft 4in, Palace can give him the chance to emerge himself onto the Premier League but they will need to fight West Ham, Watford, Norwich City and West Brom for his signature.
