It is a Lancashire derby at Turf Moor as Burnley face Blackpool, with both teams looking to jump up the Championship table at this early stage of the season.

The Clarets were held at home to second place Hull City and are without in three games since the opening day victory over Huddersfield Town.

Blackpool also won on the first day at home to Reading and picked up their second three points this campaign earlier in midweek at Queens Park Rangers.

Both teams are still finding their feet under new managers with Vincent Kompany and Michael Appleton adjusting to life in the second tier.

  • Team News

Burnley were handed a big boost with the arrival of Darko Churlinov from VfB Stuttgart on Friday, allowing him to be involved against The Tangerines.

He will most likely be involved from the bench, so Jay Rodriguez will keep his spot up front ahead of Ashley Barnes and youngster Dara Costelloe.

Scott Twine is still injured, as is Johann Berg Gudmundsson, but Charlie Taylor should keep his place in the squad despite the rumours of him potentially on his way out of the club.

Charlie Patino joins a growing list of Blackpool absentees, after he was confirmed to be out of action for at least four weeks.

Keshi Anderson, Gary Madine, Jake Beesley and Kevin Stewart will all sit out of the game at Turf Moor, so Sonny Carey and Shayne Lavery will likely come in.

Jerry Yates will keep his place down the middle and Josh Bowler will start on the right side of the front three, despite his future under the spotlight this summer.

  • Key players

Burnley – Ian Maatsen

The Chelsea loanee left-back has been Burnley’s most impressive performer this season.

Ian Maatsen has quickly become a fan favourite at the club with his dynamic performances down the left-hand side.

His main job is to defend and has remained strong as part of a back-line who have only been breached three times in four games.

It is going forward where he has caught the eye the most.

His goal on the opening night was a well-taken finish, and he has found himself in good positions to be able to get a shot away or create something for the other players.

He has not faced anyone yet that has pinned him back for the whole game and you will do well to find someone in the Championship who will.

Maatsen, after his man-of-the-match displays, will be wanting to get high up the pitch against Blackpool who will likely set up in a low block formation.

Blackpool – Jerry Yates

Against a smaller centre half, Yates should not be taken too lightly as he has shown in the past he has the striker instinct needed to succeed in this division.

The frontman will command the ball in a variety of ways, and will be critical in helping his team out of trouble this weekend.

His manager will be hoping the ball sticks to him when it is cleared and he can win a few free-kicks to take the pressure off of the back line.

Away from the dirty work, he is a great finisher too, albeit with zero goals so far this season.

His sharpness in the area will be tested, especially as his side will not see much of the ball.

Yates will be hoping he can get his first goal involvement of the season so far.
