Marinus Dijkhuizen is the bookmakers' favourite to take the west London hot seat.
Dijkhuizen, 43, who guided Excelsior to a 15th place finish with one of the smallest budgets in the league, is poised to take over from Mark Warburton. The current Bees' boss, at least for the next few days, confirmed earlier in the season that no matter where Brentford finished in the league he would leave at the end of the campaign.
Dijkuizen has managed 59 games for Excelsior and on average he collects 1.47 points per game. He guided them to promotion in the previous season, in what was his first year in charge of the club where he spent two different spells as a player
When linked to the vacant Brentford position, Dijkhuizen commented: "I am not saying that I’m leaving, only that there is interest in me. I cannot tell you any more right now but this week I’m going to have a conversation with the club and then we’ll see."
