Paul Pogba was bright throughout, while Douhard, at the tender of age 19, looked the hosts' most potent attacking force.

That point moves Juve five points clear of third-placed Sevilla -- who lost at home to Manchester City -- but sees them drop to second.

Full-time: Borussia Monchengladbach 1-1 Juventus. Hernanes' dismissal ended the game as a spectacle though Allegri will be pleased as the solidity of his side after going down to ten men.

88' - CHANCE FOR MONCHENGLADBACH: Hazard curls a menacing effort towards goal but Buffon, spectacularly, tips the Belgian's effort onto the crossbar. Breathtaking save!

86': Substitution for Juventus: Sturaro off, Lemina on.

76' - CHANCE FOR MONCHENGLADBACH: Raffael dinks a lovely ball towards Stindl but the midielder is denied expertly by the outstretched leg of Buffon. A golden opportunity for Gladbach.

74': Substitution for Juventus: Morata off, Barzagli on.

66': Sturaro booked for a dangerous stamp on Johnson.

66': Dahoud's shot takes a crude deflection off Bonucci but his effort lacks power and is comfortably collected by Buffon.

63' - CHANCE FOR MONCHENGLADBACH: Encouraging move from the hosts. Wendt races to the byline and cuts the ball back to an eager Johnson on the edge of the area but the American cannot keep his effort down.

61': Substitution for Juventus: Dybala off, Cuadrado on.

58': Borussia in the ascendency after the dismissal. Dahoud fashions an effort at goal but it poses no threat to Buffon.

55': Marchisio booked for a mistimed tackle on Dahoud.

52': A hare-brained lunge from Hernanes on Dominiguez merits a red card from referee Bjorn Kuipers.

RED CARD! HERNANES IS DISMISSED!

50': And, from the ensuing corner, the Spaniard heads over from close-range.

49': Away side are inching closer to a second. Morata, this time, receives possession from Hernanes and releases a shot towards the Borussia goal, but it takes a deflection and trickles out for a corner.

47': Juve have began the second period with a spring in their step.

46': Threatening move from the visitors culminates in Pogba bending an effort inches wide of Strommer's goal.

Second-half is underway!

Pressed vigourously and with purpose during the opening exchanges, pilfering possession from Pogba on several ocassions. Allegri may be disheartened by his side's predictabilty going forward.

Juve's influence began to grow as the half progressed. The hosts were hapless in preventing Lichtsteiner's equaliser, though will take positives from their early exchanges.

Half-time: Borussia Monchengladbach 1-1 Juventus. Lichtsteiner cancels out Johnson's early strike.

43': A finish to match the pass, as they say. Strommer was left hapless in goal as the full-back caught his volley with unerring accuracy.

43': After a month nursing a heart problem, the Swiss full-back meets Pogba's deft dink with conviction to restore parity.

GOALLLLLL FOR JUVENTUS!!!!!! LICHTSTEINERRRR!!!!!

41': Traore jinks inside and tees up Stindl for an effort, but the midfielder's snapshot flies over Buffon's crossbar.

41': Pogba dinks a lovely centre into Hernanes whose knockdown almost falls to Dybala.

38' - CHANCE FOR JUVE: Evra leaps highest from Hernanes' free-kick -- via an inadvertant deflection from Rodriguez -- and almost beats Sommer with a downward header at his front post. Encouraging for the Bianconeri.

32': Juve enjoying spells of promise but are yet to pepper Sommer's goal with efforts.

27': Xhaka tries his luck from distance but the Swiss international cuts across his effort and it sails wide.

24': Dybala is slipped through from Morata but the Argentine is foiled by the recovering run of Johnson.

21': Traore draws fingetips from Buffon after a cleverly worked short corner.

18': And, to rub salt into Juventini wounds, they would be supplanted by City atop the groupt table should results stay the same.

18': Chiellini miscues his clearance to Raffael who tees up Johnson to dispatch past Buffon. 1-0 to the hosts.

GOALLLLL FOR MONCHENGLADBACH!!!! FABIAN JOHNSON!!!!!!!

14': Juve have taken their foot off the gas slightly. Dybala, particularly, has been bereft of service upfront.

13' - CHANCE FOR MONCHENGLADBACH: Dahoud collects the ball on the edge of the area and crashes a looping effort onto the bar.

6': Hosts, though, have responded brightly, with Traore showing signs of intent down the right-hand side.

3': A promising start from the visitors.

1' - CHANCE FOR JUVENTUS: Hernanes' delivery is cleared only to Patrice Evra who blasts over from close-range.

Juve get us underway!

Confetti reigns down from the stands as the teams emerge. A pivotal evening for the German outfit.

Juventus XI: Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Chiellini, Evra; Sturaro, Marchisio, Pogba; Hernanes, Dybala, Morata.

Monchengladbach XI: Sommer, Johnson, Christensen, Dominguez, Wendt, Nordtveit, Dahoud, Xhaka, Traore, Stindl, Raffael.

Teams new imminent!

Bjorn Kuipers, who presided over the Bianconeri's ignominous 4-1 reversal away to Fulham in 2010, will be the man in the middle.

Swiss star, Granit Xhaka, who netted in the Foals 4-1 rout of Hertha Berlin on Saturday, believes that Juve will punish the German side if they drop their effort levels by a mere "1%".

The Old Lady has triumphed in nine of her 22 visits to Germany, with last season's momentous win in Dortmund their last victory on German soil.

For Gladbach, Andre Hahn, Patrick Hermann and Nico Schulz are all sidelined with knee injuries, while Toby Jantschke is doubtful.

Max Allegri is short of Roberto Pereyra for the trip while Sami Khedira faces a late fitness test. Stephan Lichsteiner, encouragingly, returned to training after suffering a heart problem but will not play in Germany.

Captain Claudio Marchisio believes their last-gasp victory over their city rivals at the weekend could mark the turning point in their campaign.

The Italian believes that his side must begin to foster cohesion, citing the phalanx of players under the age of 23 that he has at his disposal.

Where critics discern atrophy, however, Allegri perceives progress. “People don’t look at how we’ve lost, but at the results, that’s what counts. I’m always calm, I’m not going to change my thinking because of a week or a month."

They have tasted defeat as many times as they have tasted victory and they required a stoppage-time winner from Juan Cuadrado in the Derby della Mole at the weekend.

Juve, in contrast, have endured a turbulent start to their title defence as they languish in the bottom half of the Serie A table.

The Foals, though, have been rampant domestically, netting 14 times in their last five league outings.

"At some point we will have to have a look at the table, but there's nothing to be gained from doing so at the moment."

"The result is the only thing that matters and we will approach the match accordingly. We will see what happens," noted the Gladbach coach in his pre-match press conference.

After the depature of Lucien Favre in September, Monchengladbach are unbeaten since Andre Schubert was appointed as interim head coach. The Bundlesiga outfit were unfortunate to claim nothing when Manchester City visited on matchday two and held the Old Lady at arms length when the sides clashed last month.

It's top vs. bottom as Juve, for all intents and purposes, could seal their progression to the knockout stages with victory tonight. Borussia, meanwhile, will be seeking their first win of the campaign.
