Reports are suggesting that Sheffield Wednesday are eyeing a move for former Wigan Athletic midfielder Kim Bo-Kyung.

The 25-year-old South Korean international spent the second half of the last campaign at Wigan after arriving from Cardiff City. However his arrival couldn’t help the Latics avoid relegation to League One.

HITC Sport claims that their sources close to Wednesday believe that the Owls are readying a bid for the attacking midfielder.

Wednesday could face competition for his signature

Reports are also saying that there are several clubs interested in Kim, including clubs in the Premier League, Championship, La Liga in Spain and the German Bundesliga.

Kim arrived in British football after impressing at the 2012 London Olympics with his South Korean side, winning a bronze medal.

His performances at the Olympics earned him a move to South Wales with Cardiff. His first season at the Cardiff City Stadium ended in promotion to the Premier League.

However, his initial good start at the Bluebirds fizzled out and his performances dropped, which coincided with Cardiff’s immediate return to the second tier of English football after relegation from the Premier League.

This led to the 32 times capped international being offloaded to Wigan, where he was reunited with the manager who brought him to Cardiff in Malky Mackay.

Wednesday build for promotion push

Wednesday have already completed the signings of Sergiu Bus, Will De Havilland, Darryl Lachman, Filipe Melo Silva from CSKA Sofia, Histon, FC Twente and Moreirense respectively. The Owls also recently signed defender Vincent Sasso from SC Braga on loan.

New boss Carlos Carvalhal has been quick to stamp his mark at Hillsborough and he, along with the Wednesday hierarchy, will be quietly confident with a promotion challenge, with the Yorkshire outfit making no secrets of the fact they harbour ambitions of reaching the promised land of the Premier League.
