Brentford Town are closing in on the signature of Chelsea midfielder, Josh McEachran.

McEachran, 22, is expected to sign for the Bees over the coming days for a fee of around £750,000

The 22-year old has made 11 appearances for Chelsea since making his debut in the Champions League against MSK Zilina in 2010.

Despite spending his whole professional career a Chelsea player, he has not featured since Andre Villas-Boas was in charge with a six-minute cameo against Wolves in 2012.

The former-England U21 international and FA Cup Youth cup winner was once tipped for a starring career at Chelsea, but loan spells at Swansea, Middlesbrough, Watford, Wigan, and Vitesse have followed since his last appearance in a Chelsea shirt.

McEachran has fallen further down the pecking order at Chelsea with Ruben Loftus-Cheek emerging in the past season and Oriol Romeu returning from a loan spell at Stuttgart which was considered highly productive for him.

Romeu recently said how "they (Chelsea) see me (Romeu) as part of their future."

McEachran impressed last season for Vitesse after a new fitness programme was given to him. He made 21 appearances in the Dutch League.

Busy Summer For The Bees

Brentford have implemented a European style to management over the summer after the controversial departure of Mark Warburton.

The Bees now have two directors of football. Both in charge of player recruitment. Rasmus Ankersen and Phil Giles, both have been integral in the already busy summer of activity for Brentford.

They have already signed numerous players this summer including Konstantin Kirschbaum, from Admira Wacker, Yoann Barbet from Chamois Niortais, Ryan Williams, from Morcombe, and Akaki Gogia from Hallesche.

McEachran Fits The Bill

McEachran represents the young and exciting style of player Head Coach, Marinus Dijkhuizen wants stating how it is "important" to have good quality players with so many fixtures packed into the Championship calendar.
