Fulham have added 28-year-old midfielder Jamie O'Hara to their ranks on a free transfer, after his contract expired at recently-relegated Blackpool.

The former England U21 international brings with him a wealth of experience to Craven Cottage, after a journeyman-like career which has seen him turn out for a number of sides in the Premier League and Football League.

O'Hara is pleased to have signed on

O'Hara has completed the details of a one-year deal with Kit Symons' side, and has already spent some time training with his new teammates ahead of their pre-season friendly schedule.

In an interview with the club's official website, the midfielder said that he was "absolutely delighted" to have signed on with the Cottagers, going on to thank his new manager for the opportunity.

He was voted Fans' Player of the Season at Blackpool last term, making 28 appearances but finding himself powerless to prevent the Seasiders' inevitable demotion as trouble off the pitch marred an already disastrous season.

He now joins Fulham as their fifth signing of the summer transfer window, following the captures of Andy LonerganBen PringleJazz Richards and Tom Cairney.

O'Hara has turned out for a number of clubs in his career so far

Having started his youth career with North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, O'Hara has represented a lengthy list of clubs up and down the country.

Spells with MillwallWolverhampton Wanderers, Chesterfield and Portsmouth have followed, but Wolves are the only side where he has ever broken the 50-league appearance mark.

Now, having been handed a fresh start in London, O'Hara will be hoping to impress his new manager and earn an extended contract by the end of the season.

Fulham are hoping for a promotion challenge after a disappointing season which saw them finish 17th, and there is a belief around the club that they can push for a Championship play-off spot after a tough first season back in the second tier.
