Charlton striker Igor Vetokele is keen to face Wolves this weekend following his return against Peterborough United.

The 23-year-old has been recovering from an achilles problem which kept him out for much of last season.

Last night he scored the fourth goal of the evening in a 4-1 win at Peterborough in the League Cup.

He told the Sevenoaks Chronicle that it was a 'great feeling' to be back on the pitch.

Vetokele has a knack for finding the net

Vetokele arrived at Charlton from Copenhagen last summer after scoring 13 goals in the Danish Superliga.

Before his arrival in Denmark he played in Belgium where he had spells at Oostende, Gent and Cercle Brugge.

He was prolific in August last season as he scored five goals in his first four Championship games. He then notched a further six goals before suffering the achilles injury which has kept him out till now.

He is targeting some minutes in this weekend's game at Molineux but is prepared to 'take it calm' and is going to speak with medical team on the minutes he can play.

It is not likely he will walk back into the Charlton team with Danish striker Simon Makienok and former Celtic forward Tony Watt likely to start ahead of him.

Earlier in the summer Vetokele was linked with a possible switch to QPR for around £4million but the rumour didn't come to any fruition in the form of any inquries or bids.

An international career on hold

He will be hoping to return to the form he showed at the beginning of last season to revitalise his international career.

Despite being born in Belgium, Vetokele has earned three caps for Angola after pledging his future to the country in May 2014.

The next international may come too soon for him with a game against Madagascar coming up on the weekend of September 4th.

The Sable Antelopes have started the qualifying campaign well after a 4-0 win over Central African Republic.
