Burnley striker Lukas Jutkiewicz will be out for the foreseeable future after rupturing his cruciate ligament in Saturday's 2-1 away win at Bristol City

The 26-year-old, who signed for the Clarets from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2014, is yet to open his goalscoring account at the Turf Moor outfit, having made 32 appearances during his time in East Lancashire.

Jutkiewicz underwent scans having caught his studs in the Ashton Gate turf, only to continue through the pain barrier and play the full 90 minutes away at the Robins.

After suffering the unfortunate injury, the Southampton-native becomes the fifth Burnley player to suffer such an injury since their Premier League campaign.

Dyche's rues Burnley's "bad luck"

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has stated his disappointment at the injury sustained by Jutkiewicz, in an interview with the Clarets' official website.

Sam Vokes, Kevin Long, Dean Marney and Ashley Barnes have all suffered their respective injuries in a similar way to Jutkiewicz, in a freak catalouge of injuries.

Dyche complained that the Jutkiewicz news was "very unfortunate" for the club, but that he simply "can't fathom why we're having such bad luck".

The 44-year-old boss assured fans that the club had 'dug into the details' of the injuries in an attempt to try and find a link between the five, but found that the players had worn different boots, suffered the injuries home and away and had been victim to different kinds of challenges.

Jutkiewicz starts the long road back

Despite the blow, Dyche was eager to find a silver lining to the news. While he admitted that the spate of injuries in such a short period was "incredible", he noted that other players had recovered or were coming to the end of their recoveries, meaning the club knows "the protocols and the journey back" to full fitness.
