Match-day 16 was closely followed by many due to the fact that the first and last fixtures were played by teams with title-winning aspirations. The match-day opened with Manchester City - Arsenal, and the weekend was capped by Tottenham - Liverpool. This match-day proved to be a momentous occasions for many clubs after Manchester City thrashed Arsenal 6-3, hoping to close the gap at the top of the table. Liverpool also took full advantage of Arsenal's loss by hammering Spurs 5-0 to curtail the day. The performances of many players on this day made the task of choosing the top 5 players for this week a lot more difficult.

Fifth on this week’s Top 5 Premier League Guns is Yaya Touré. Despite slipping early on in the game to hand an easy equalizing goal to Arsenal, he was his usual dominant self in the midfield. Yaya added salt in the wounds of Arsenal by scoring a late penalty, taking the scoreline to a humiliating 6-3.

Fourth on the list goes to Fernandinho, who showed the fans the reason he was purchased for a huge amount of money. He basically set his side on the way from the midfield before finishing his day with a brace. He took the life out of league leaders Arsenal with two brilliant strikes; the first gave City the lead for the third time in the match (3-2) and his second goal stretched the lead to 5-2.

Third on the list is Manchester United's Danny Welbeck. Welbeck has been quiet this season, but his brace was a crucial part of United's victory, earning them three desperately needed points.

Sergio Agüero is the leader of City's recent costless scoring run. He bagged yet another opening goal on Saturday to break the deadlock at the Etihad Stadium and take his league tally to 13 goals.

Our Top Premier League Gun is once again Luis Suárez. Suárez’s Liverpool played the final match in this week’s fixture list, and like the old saying goes, “saved the best for last”. Suárez was best on the field when his side face off against Tottenham Hotspur. Luis Suárez was involved in all five Liverpool goals and was credited for 2 goals and 3 assists. Luis has demonstrated once against that he is the best player in the EPL. Should we consider him as this years’ Gareth Bale? Or is he a touch better than Bale was in last season? Should Luis Suárez be put in a league of his own?

Stay tuned next week to see if our Top 5 Guns are still intact or if any former guns or new stars are making their way towards becoming the Premier League Top Gun.
