The Liberty Stadium was the venue for a comfortable victory for the Welsh team, beating the blue half of Merseyside by a score of 3-0. Martinez's men continued to struggle as they have done for the most part of this early campaign, this time their league form carried into the Capital One Cup.

A game started bright, the opening 20 minutes seeing shots from both sides flying just wide of the target. Antolin Alacaraz maybe should've broken the deadlock in the 21st minute, but his shot from inside the area was saved comfortably. Minutes later, it would be Swansea who opened the scoring thanks to a defence-slicing run from Jefferson Montero, the Colombian then finding Nathan Dyer alone at the back post to finish easily. Ten minutes before the break, Distin saw his header saved, it was Everton's only real chance after going down a goal.

Half Time: Swansea 1-0 Everton

Romelu Lukaku was brought on to save the day for Everton though it was not to be, as the Swans made it 2-0 on 64 minutes. A near own goal from Sylvain Distin bounced back off the crossbar, falling to the feet of Gylfi Sigurdsson who was never going to miss. Everton just could not get things going in the 2nd period, failing to create much going forward while allowing Swansea to go in search of a third. The Welsh side would find their 3rd of the night a couple minutes before full time, Marvin Emnes striking from just outside the penalty area past a helpless Tim Howard.

Full Time: Swansea 3-0 Everton: Not one that will live long in the memory of Evertonians. Swansea advance to the Capital One Cup 4th round. A 2nd consecutive loss in all competitions for Martinez's men is a worry, they'll have a lot of work to be done in the coming days before the Merseyside derby this weekend.
