Swansea picked up their first win away since the opening day of the season as Hull's winless streak goes on. A deflected goal from Ki gave the visitors the win, and piles the pressure on Hull boss Steve Bruce.

Swans boss Garry Monk made seven changes to his side with top scorer Wilfried Bony only on the bench, meaning Bafetimbi Gomis was to play up fromt for the visitors. Federico Fernandez made a long awaited return to the squad after six games out. Lukaz Fabianski returned in goal for Swansea as they looked for only their second away win of the season.Hull were without injured duo Michael Dawson and Mohamed Diame, while Tom Huddlestone was suspended after his sending off against Chelsea last week.

In the opening exchanges both sides had chances on goal, with Nikica Jelavic and Wayne Routledge both having shots but neither threatened to brek the deadlock. This prompted Hull to go all out attack but the toothless Tigers failed to make anything of it.

The only goal of the game came on the quarter hour mark, Ki passed through to Jonjo Shelvey, whose shot deflected off of Ki's elbow to slide past Allan McGregor and give the Swans the lead. This burst the game into life and sparked a period of Swansea domination as the goal gave them the much needed confidence.

In the run up to half time the game settled into a period of stasis, with neither side really looking urgent until Hull and Jelavic had a goal ruled out for offside, he hit a long range after the flag had already gone, was the closest Hull got to an equaliser. Shelvey was the star of the first half after essentially scoring the goal and had many good chances to add to Swansea's tally.

The second half was one to forget after not much happened in terms of action. On loan Hull midfielder Gaston Ramirez had the Tigers' best chance to score but his shot went high and wide. Gomis hit the post with 15 minutes to go and this was just as his replacement Wilfried Bony was warming up. Bony came on and looked strong, but the Ivorian couldn't find a second.

After the game Steve Bruce had no excuses for his team's poor performance. "we can't make any excuses... we were missing our big players... we've got to do better than we did today." The worrying thing for Hull is Alex Bruce and Curtis Davies came off with injuries which will be assessed.

Hull are in real trouble, they looked a side lacking on confidence and couldn't find the final ball, without a goal since Sone Aluko's goal at Everton three games ago. Swansea however will be buoyed by their second away win of the season, and head into the Christmas period with one good result behind them.
