Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to pick themselves up from their miserable week when they host Swansea City on Wednesday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side crashed out of the Europa League to Fiorentina on Thursday then had the opportunity to win their first piece of silverware in six years on Sunday but were beaten 2-0 by Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side. Despite this defeat Spurs’ form in the league has been good of late as they currently sit six points outside of the Champions League places. Their European aspirations have faltered lately with two league matches without a win but their recent record against the swans will give them a boost beating them in their last six league games including a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture back in December.

Swansea will prove a test for a Tottenham side that is lacking confidence, Gary Monk’s side have won their last two matches against Manchester United and Burnley to take up to eighth and just four points off their midweek opponents. Swansea have all but secured their safety for next season passing the coveted 40-point mark, the hard work doesn’t stop there however as Monk will be looking to beat their Premier League point record of 47 which they achieved in their debut season back in 2012/13.

Pochettino may look to make some changes to his side from Sunday’s defeat with; Moussa Dembele, Erik Lamela, Federico Fazio, Benjamin Stambouli and Ben Davies all pushing for a start.  They could be without full-back Kyle Walker who picked up and played on with a dead leg at Wembley but could be rested for this match with either  Fazio or Vlad Chiriches ready to step in.

Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is expected to return for this game against his former employers after he missed game with Burnley at the weekend due to a hamstring. He is expected to slot straight into the starting line up as a direct replacement for Tom Carroll who is ineligible to play as he is currently on loan from their opponents. Kyle Naughton could make his first return to White Hart Lane since moving permanently to the Liberty Stadium in the January transfer window.
