Leicester City's Jeffrey Schlupp has put pen-to-paper on a new four-year deal, which will keep him at the King Power Stadium until 2019.

Schlupp to stay with the Foxes

The impressive 22 year-old Ghanaian international has risen into the first team in recent years, taking over from Paul Konchesky at left back. Last season was a triumph for the academy graduate - who collected both 'young player of the year' and 'players player of the year' at the end of season awards.

Schlupp has caught the eye with his lightning pace throughout his career and his attacking prowess and ability to beat players with ease was pivotal to Nigel Pearson's team surviving the 2014-15 Barclays Premier League season.

Schlupp was in high demand after last season and was linked to a summer move to clubs such as Aston Villa and Swansea according to The Daily Mail. However the capture of his signature by Leicester is perhaps one of their key signings this summer and adds great depth to their squad.

What role will Schlupp take on next season?.

Leicester have converted Schlupp from a striker to a left-back over the years however, the Foxes have made other signings that may put Schlupp's position (both in defense and attack) at the club up for debate.

The signing of the experienced Austrian international left back Christian Fuchs and Japanese striker Shinji Okazaki seems to suggest that Schlupp could perhaps take a back seat onto the substitute bench.

However his performances in reent years should warrant him a first team position; his international appearances for Ghana and recognition from his team mates only appear to back that up.

Next season will answer all questions concerning Schlupp's future at Leicester but one thing is for sure, Leicester have retained the services of a quality young player who will only continue to grow.
