Reports suggest that Arsenal are looking at Catania right-back Gino Peruzzi to provide competition for Mathieu Debuchy next season, with the likelihood that Carl Jenkinson will be sent out on loan.

Representatives of the Argentinean are said to be flying to London for extended talks over the deal to bring the defender to the Emirates.

Peruzzi, 22, was an integral park of Luigi De Canio's squad last season, despite the Sicilian club's relegation from the Serie A. Peruzzi featured 21 times for the Italian club and has represented Argentina on four occasions.

Young Peruzzi was said to be disappointed to not be picked in the World Cup squad, having been in Alejandro Sabella's squads during the qualifying process.

This is not the first time the defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League. Peruzzi was set for a £5 million move to Sunderland under Paolo Di Canio from Velez Sarsfield in 2011 where a medical had brought up a ligament injury the previous season. Thus meaning the defender staying in Argentina before moving to Catania in 2013.

Should Arsenal go through with the move, Peruzzi will offer strength in the full-back position. The 22-year old will provide stiff competition for French international Debuchy who joined the Gunners just last week.
