Reports in Denmark have emerged suggesting that Arsenal could be prepared to make a move for Liverpool's Daniel Agger. The Danish centre-half has fallen out of favour at Anfield, with Brendan Rodgers seemingly replacing him with the £20 million arrival of Dejan Lovren.

Agger has mostly been linked to his former club Brøndby this summer. With their chairman, Jan Bech Andersen, saying this about him,

"We will work really, really hard to secure Daniel but as he has also said, when he was here with Liverpool, the timing has to be right."

But the Copenhagen club may have to face a battle with Arsenal, who are looking to replace wantaway defender Thomas Vermaelen. Who is set to sign for either Barcelona or Manchester United, before the end of the transfer window.

The move would come as a shock to many, given Agger's recent injury record and lack of form that saw him lose his place in the starting lineup due to Rodgers' preference of  Mamadou Sakho and Martin Škrtel as a centre-back pairing. Worringly, the Dane doesn't seem to have refound his form over the summer, having scored a last minute own goal in Liverpool's 1-0 loss to Roma earlier in pre-season.
