“It’s unthinkable until it happens and then everyone thinks why did it happens but now we can focus on the premier league and wait for the draws” Wenger said in his post-match conference via the club’s official website.

The gunners finished in fourth position last season in the EPL and thus, were made to play the in the qualifiers- a situation that pitched Arsenal with Turkish outfit, Besiktas. After a drab 0-0 draw in Istanbul, Arsenal finished the job on home soil with a 1-0 victory against the visitors on a night new acquisition; Alexis Sanchez got his first goal for the club much to the delight of the Emirate faithfuls.

The Chilean international had gone four games without scoring since his £35 million pound move from Catalan giants, Barcelona to North London. Sanchez benefitted from a move by Jack Wilshere just on the stroke of half time when he sent the ball low to beat the Besiktas goalie.

“He (Sanchez) had a good game, not only on the technical side but on the fighting side. He was mobile, dangerous and has shown as well he has great fighting spirit, qualities that will be very important in the Premier League. But overall I feel we produced a performance we wanted on the technical side, on the tactical side and on the mental side. We were at the level that was requested tonight against a good team but we couldn't finish the game off and that of course [made it] very difficult for us in the last 10 minutes when we were down to ten men” Wenger commented on the performance on Alexis Sanchez.

This will be the 17th consecutive season that Arsenal will make it to the Champions League but now must try to strengthen in order to make an impact in the competition and on the domestic scene as well, especially after losing Olivier Giroud for up to five months due to a suspected broken ankle.

Wenger however, has ruled out making a move for Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck and says he is yet to contact Serbian striker Nikola Zigic. He also revealed that Radamel Falcao is out of his price range- the trio has been strongly linked to Arsenal by many section of the media.
