William Carvalho has dealt Arsenal a huge blow in their search for a defensive midfielder, ruling out a move to the Emirates.
"I am under contract with Sporting and I'm a Sporting player," he told A Bola.
"There is no way I can say I am going to leave. I am fine at Sporting."
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Portuguese capital, with Manchester United and Chelsea also in the run in to sign the midfielder.
The Gunners had tabled an improved bid for Carvalho, of £21.3m, however, the Sporting Lisbon midfielder has reiterated his desire to stay.
