Only one Arsenal owned player featured as Costa Rica drew Paraguay 0-0 in their first international friendly on the year with new managers in the Estadio Nacional. Joel Campbell, who is currently on loan at Villarreal played 81 minutes and was clearly one of the better players, if not the one with the most chances in the entire match.

In a match that had many chances for both sides, the Paraguayans could've been the ones ahead following a bad decision from the referee after Raul Bobadilla was fouled in the box by a Costa Rican defender shortly before half-time, but a steller defense from the away side were allowed to stop the majority of the Costa Rican chances they had in the entire match

For Joel Campbell's performance, he defintely had an amazing performance overall, something that is a throwback to the World Cup back last summer but something that wasn't clearly shown in his time in Spain. He was quick on the right, trying all moves and tricks, combining well with Saborio, pressuring, and defintely provided the creativity and speed Costa Rica had with the many chances he had on goal. The big chance in particular came in 37th minute, when Campbell was able to pace past towards also four Paraguayan defenders, only to be stopped by the last man when he went for his shot towards goal.

As for other Arsenal internationals so far this week, Mesut Ozil captained Germany in the latter stages of their 2-2 draw with Australia last night. Lukas Podolski, currently on loan from Arsenal at Inter Milan, was the man to rescue a draw for the World Champions. Former Gunner Nicklas Bendtner meanwhile scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 win for Denmark over the USA. Alexis Sanchez came on at half-time tonight as his Chile side were surprisingly beaten 2-0 by Iran. David Ospina, meanwhile, kept a clean-sheet as Colombia beat Bahrain 6-0. In France, Oliver Giroud and former Gunner Bacary Sagna were unable to beat Gabriel's Brazil in the Stade de France.
