Reports have stated that Real Madrid are looking to make a bid for defender Laurent Koscielny.

Real Madrid's defense needs improvement after an average season at best. They were knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals by Juventus. Some might debate that Real's defense was at fault for their exit. Real were very close to scoring a winner but they could not pull through in the end. They had been plagued with injuries all season, with Varane being injured in the beginning of the season, Sergio Ramos for a while in the middle and Pepe torwards the end. The Spanish giants have more than enough funds to get this deal done if both parties can reach an agreement.

Koscielny has played incredibly well this season, playing in 35 total matches and rarely making critical mistakes. The extremely disciplined Frenchman has only allocated four yellow cards this campaign and not one match ban.

If Koscielny decides to leave Arsenal, the Gunners are going to have a lot of spending to do at the back, as they already need another solid centre-back besides Koscielny. Even though it appears Per Mertesacker has come into his own, if the Gunners want Premier League glory next season, they are gonna need improvement at the back regardless.

Possible Koscielny replacements could be Nicholas Otamendi or Mats Hummels. Either of these would be very strong replacements for the French international.

This could be hinting at a possible exit of Rafael Varane, who has constantly been linked out of the Santiago Bernabeu with possible moves to Arsenal, ChelseaManchester City, and Manchester United.

If this deal gets done, it would be a massive deal for both sides and could potentially satisfy the defensive needs of Los Blancos
