Arsenal forward Yaya Sanogo has completed a deadline day switch to join Championship side Charlton Athletic - on a loan deal for the remainder of the 2015/16 campaign.

This news shouldn't come as much of a surprise, seeing as the Frenchman, who struggled for regular minutes in the Eredivisie during his loan spell with Ajax, is understandably eager to establish his credentials as a decent, reliable frontman.

Does Sanogo have an Arsenal future?

Questions have been asked as to whether or not Sanogo does have a future at the Emirates, and signs suggest otherwise.

However, as we've seen in successive seasons with both Francis Coquelin and more recently, Joel Campbell - both have emerged from prior loan spells away from north London, and when given the opportunity to do so, established their first-team credentials. Both midfielders have become mainstays in Arséne Wenger's side, which will no doubt give Sanogo some much-needed confidence considering he's found chances hard to come by in recent months.

Injuries have hurt his progress - badly

Following three long-term injuries in consecutive seasons, the 23-year-old will be hoping that he can maintain a good run of form and manage to stay fit. Having joined Arsenal in July of 2013 from Ligue 2 side Auxerre on a free transfer, he was touted as a potential young talent with plenty of promise to fulfill.

A back injury in September of the same year meant Sanogo was sidelined until mid-February, where he missed a whopping 32 first-team fixtures in the process. The season afterward, he suffered a long-term hamstring injury, and lost confidence as a result - having missed 107 days of football during that period.

Crystal Palace signed him on a six-month loan deal at the start of January last year, but he failed to impress. However, one thing that'll give him encouragement, is the fact that the Gunners have maintained patience in his ability.

You could argue though, that this may be his last opportunity to showcase his ability. So, the Championship's relegation-battlers will be hoping for some cheer in the not-too-distant future from their deadline day acquisition, whilst the Arsenal hierarchy can watch how the forward deals with the intensity and physicality of a competitive fight in England's second tier.
