Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster was instrumental as Ronald Koeman's men battled hard from first whistle to last, to win a hard-fought point at the Emirates this evening.

Despite all of their possession and passing in the final third, Arsenal were unable to find the scoresheet - with Mesut Özil, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott coming close in respective moments during counter-attacking play.

Considering how tight it is at the top of the Premier League table, it's another frustrating case of two points dropped, as opposed to one point gained from the Gunners. Claudio Ranieri's high-flying Leicester and Manchester City are both ahead of the north Londoners, in what has been an unpredictable campaign. But, you feel that they'd need to grind out results such as this one, to reiterate their title-winning credentials.

Lee Mason, the game's referee, was certainly a lenient touch - much to Arsenal's frustrations. Southampton, who relish playing against the bigger sides in England's top flight, are unsurprisingly physical and the official was eager to let play continue as opposed to booking players for cynical challenges. A stop-start approach was frustrating to watch at times, and seemed more than a coincidence that momentum shifted in the visitors' favour too often when Arsenal drove forward in search of the all-important opener.

Forster was commanding and a reliable figure as usual from the back, helping keep his fourth consecutive clean sheet and in the process, keep the Gunners' attackers at bay.
