Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral is set for another loan-spell away from the club after reports emerged that the Spanish prodigy would be joining CF Granada on loan for the upcoming 2016/17 season.

Toral, who has an English mother, looks as though he will be returning to his country of birth after joining Arsenal from Barcelona in 2011, whilst he will be hoping that this loan spell can further aid his development as he looks to impress Gunners boss Arsene Wenger

Previous loan spells

Since joining Arsenal as a teenager, the 21-year-old has been getting better and better as the seasons have gone on. An injury a couple of years ago hindered his development but since then he's had two great campaigns in the Championship at Brentford and then Birmingham.

It was in the Midlands that he really shone, as last season he scored eight times in 38 appearances. It was those kind of displays which earned him three prizes at Birmingham's end of season awards; winning the Players and Supporters Player of the Year, and Goal of the Year, for a fine strike against Ipswich

With that form, Toral must have hoped that he'd done enough to convince Wenger to let him be around the first team for the upcoming season. Instead, he'll play his trade in Spain, where he's bound to offer up some eye catching performances.

Will we ever see Jon Toral in an Arsenal shirt again? Only time will tell for a man that is doing all he can to force himself into first team plans. However with a year left on his contract it seems increasingly likely that this will be his final year on Arsenal books.

Return to Spain

After two spells in the second tier of English football, Toral has now been offered the chance to impress in La Liga, the top tier in Spain, which will without doubt be a massive step up for the goal scoring playmaker.

Toral hasn't played in Spain since he was much younger, but will be going back to the country a more mature player both on and off the pitch. He's a model professional but surely this is his last chance to impress.

A good season in Liga BBVA though could earn himself a new contract with Arsenal. If not there is bound to be plenty of clubs after his signature.

Although the move is yet to be confirmed, Spanish journalist Kike Marin seems to think the deal is not far off. The news hardly comes as surprising though, with the strength in depth Arsenal have in midfield meaning Toral would have very limited game time if he stayed in North London.
