It's the first game of the season for both Chelsea and Burnley, but they both couldn't be any more different in terms of this season's aspirations. Chelsea are looking to bounce back after their 3rd place finish last season and are preparing for a title challenge. Newly promoted Burnley, however, will want to establish themselves in the top flight and stay up after an impressive 2nd place finish last season in the Championship.

Both sides come into the game off strong pre-seasons and are hoping to start the season with a bang. Chelsea lost just one game in pre-season with their new signing, Diego Costa, bagging four goals. Burnley, like their opponents on Monday, lost just once in the build up to this season, their standout performer being Lukas Jutkiewicz.

Team News:                                                                                                                     Chelsea:

New signings Diego Costa, Thibaut Courtois and Filipe Luis are set to make their Premier League debuts. Chelsea's other major summer acquisition, Cesc Fabregas, will make his return to the English top-flight, wearing blue this time around.

In injury news, Didier Drogba, who returns to the club after 2 seasons away, is a doubt for the opening fixture of the 2014/15 campaign, but Mourinho has said the Ivorian may recover in time.

Aside from Drogba, the rest of the squad is fit and ready to kick start a new season.

Burnley:

A handful of new players were brought in by Sean Dyche over the summer, Lukas Jutkiewicz being the most notable. Jutkiewicz, Steven Reid and Matthew Taylor will all most likely make their competitive debuts for the club.

Sam Vokes, who scored 20 goals for Burnley last season, is out with no return date set after suffering an ACL injury in preseason.

Cameron Dummigan has also been ruled out for a lengthy period with a hip injury, no return date set either.

Stats:

Chelsea's odds for winning the Premier League this season are 15/8. (Sky Bet)

Burnley are the favourites to be relegated at 4/7 odds. (Sky Bet)

Chelsea lost just 5 games away from home while Burnley lost only twice at home in the Championship last season.

Prediction:

Chelsea are favourites to win the title and will want to stamp their authority early on in the season. Beating title challengers is a lot to ask of Burnley in their first Premier League game since 2010 and although the Clarets will be tough to break down at home, in the end, the Blues' quality will prevail. Burnley 0-3 Chelsea.
