The German has long been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga before next season, with the 23-year-old thought to have plenty of potentials suitors, should he decide he wants to ply his trade elsewhere.

It was the Express who first reported Chelsea's interest, following the player's agent's public bust-up with the German champions.

Bayern Munich

Gotze's agent, Volker Struth, publicly raged at Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola last week, insisting that the ex-Barcelona coach 'could have done more' to support the young midfielder, who scored 14 goals last season, helping the Munich side to their third consecutive league title.

Struth told Bild am Sonntag that he would have appreciated "more support" for his client on ocassion last season. With this support, Struth stated that Gotze will be able to show that he "is one of the best players in the world."

The situations that the agent is referring to are said to be the Champions League semi-final defeat to Barcelona, in which Gotze featured for a total of just 14 minutes over the two legs and his side crashed out to a 5-3 aggregate defeat at the hands of the eventual winners.

Three EPL clubs reportedly interested

Arsenal are said to have been long-term admirers of Gotze, who scored Germany's winning goal in last year's World Cup final, against Argentina and the Daily Star reported on Saturday that the Gunners were not alone in their quest to sign the Bavarian midfielder, with Louis van Gaal's free-spending Manchester United also interested.

It's not hard to see where he would fit in to any of the three sides, though the player's extortionate price tag - just shy of £50m - could scare away the English trio.
