Chelsea got back on track in their quest for Champions League knockout qualification after a comfortable 4-0 over Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

The Blues came into the game off the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Norwich, and certainly showed in Israel that improvements were being made.

Captain Terry suffered ankle injury

Chelsea have suffered a hammer blow before Sunday's crunch game against Totttenham Hotspur, as their captain John Terry suffered an ankle injury.

Terry was substituted after 72 minutes, being taken off on a stretcher with worrying signs for José Mourinho. The injury has now thrown doubt over his availability for this weekend's clash with their London rivals - with the defender set to miss out as a result.

Mourinho unsurprisingly blamed the pitch for the injury, saying that it was "bad and dangerous". He admitted that he was unsure how long it'd take for Terry to recover, but for John to "leave the pitch with the result 1-0", he already knows that "he's in trouble".

Mourinho plays down Costa altercation

While things were upbeat after the win yesterday, the match was not without incident as Diego Costa and Mourinho were seen arguing during the game, before Terry restrained the striker.

This has caused speculation that there is disruption in the camp, but Mourinho played down the spat saying that, "At half-time in the dressing room there were a few kisses and a few cuddles".

He also explained that the spat was because, he wanted Costa to "do a certain movement that he didn't do" and that he was "disappointed" because of this.

Chelsea put qualification in their own hands

With one game to go in Group G, Chelsea lead the way with ten points. Porto and Dynamo Kiev both sit behind them on 10 and eight points respectively.

A win or draw in their last game would see them qualify for the knockout stages, as their goal difference is substantially better than Porto's. Mourinho will be over the moon that his side have shown the character they have to top the Group after a rough start. Now he will hope that his side can finish the job off in their last group game against his former club.
