There have been few involved with Chelsea who have escaped criticism from either fans or pundits this season, and Eden Hazard certainly hasn't been one of those as he has failed to hit the heights of his previous campaign.

But Jose Mourinho believes "his game was more complete" in Chelsea's 0-0 draw with Tottenham and that he did "fantastically well for the team" which will see many Blues fans blow a huge sigh of relief to see one of the clubs star players start to work back to form.

Mourinho was particularly impressed with "his appetite to be important in the game" which is something that he has been lacking so far this season, unlike previous games Hazard was involved in Chelsea's attacking displays and remained consistent throughout the 90 minutes, resulting in Mourinho claiming the performance to be "his best" of the season so far.

Sulking subs

Whilst Hazard was performing better than he has all season, one of Chelsea's other top stars, Diego Costa was dropped to the bench for the game and his reactions sitting on the sidelines didn't make for a pretty picture as the striker appeared visibly displeased with his manager's decision.

However, Mourinho believes that Costa should be "privileged" at the fact it's taken this long for the Special One to drop him, considering that many of Chelsea's biggest names from captain, John Terry to Pedro, Oscar and Hazard have all spent time on the bench, Costa is the final man from last season's dominant side to make the drop.

Things finally seem to be turning around for Mourinho's men.

The decision to drop Costa was purely tactical as Mourinho confirmed that "physically Diego is fine" and that he felt dropping him was "the best strategy" heading into the game against Tottenham, but with his side unable to score, some may argue whether or not that was accurate.

Mourinho wasn't phased by Costa's reaction to being dropped as he was "not expecting a player on the bench to be jumping and singing" especially when they are customized to regular football, but he assured fans that he has a "good relationship with him"

Moving forward

With Chelsea's performances beginning to look more characteristic, Mourinho is looking forward to the remainder of the month positively hoping his side can "go ahead with the feeling of these performances" which would see the club look to move back up the table.

Bournemouth will be the clubs next opponents and Mourinho is hoping for a continuation of the way his team are playing, with the focus on them being a team, "when we play as a team and defend as a team the team is much better."

With performances improving and confidence on the rise Mourinho claimed,"I would not be surprised if we don’t lose one of the next 10 games." a quote that most Chelsea fans will be hoping plays out to be true, as Chelsea fight to gain a top four finish.
