Muhamed Besic has declared Everton fans as "better than most" in England and is looking forward to next season at Goodison Park.

The Bosnian midfielder is in awe of the Everton faithful after an inconsistent first campaign which saw him make just 22 Premier League appearances.

The 22 year old admitted he was surprised by the stature of the club that he joined last summer from Hungarian club Ferencvaros for £4million, signing a five-year deal.

Phenomenal support

“I remember the game in Lille - there were nearly 10,000 supporters,” Besic told evertonfc.com. “It’s good when you have that many people behind you. I did not think it was such a big club.

“I was at every stadium in the Premier League last season and I saw all the [Everton] fans. There are so many supporters - they are better than most fans in England.

"For example, when we played at Aston Villa, the fans of Aston Villa were quiet. But when we play at Goodison and [Leighton] Baines goes to take a corner, the Everton fans always clap.

“Small things like this, you see that Everton is a big club and the fans love the club," said Besic, who was speaking to Evertonfc.com, and who features in June's issue of the club's official magazine.

The Bosnian is expected to feature in the Euro 2016 qualifier against Israel on Friday before taking sometime to relax before meeting up with Everton again for pre-season.

Besic is already focused on next season

“When I came here [last year], I didn’t have even one day off,” he added. “I will try and find two or three weeks after the international games to go away and take time to rest.

“I haven’t had any time free for nearly two years. It has been difficult coming to a new league. I will relax and then come back when hopefully next year will be better.”

Everton will expect big things from the tough tackling midfielder as he looks to form a solid midfield partnership with new signing Tom Cleverley, who was recently acquired by Roberto Martinez on a free from Manchester United.
