After completing a late deadline day move back to Goodison Park, Aaron Lennon has set his sights on an England recall. The winger, 28, is confident that his permanent move to Everton can be the catalyst for a return to international football.

Lennon has not featured for England since 2013 but believes he can play for England once again with Everton teammates Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, John Stones, Ross Barkley and Tom Cleverley

Everton feels like home for Lennon

After initially joining Everton on loan in January, Lennon was able to have a good run of games for the first time in a couple of years.

He was also seen a spark in turning around Everton’s poor season and helping carry the blues up the table.

During his loan spell with the Blues, Lennon started in 12 games and made another two substitute appearances. He also helped by chipping in two goals against QPR and Swansea City.

Lennon was also insrumental in the win against Newcastle United, where he won a penalty and started numerous attacks.

Lennon’s hard working game won over a large number of Everton fans during a difficult patch of the Premier League season.

After rejoining the Toffees, the former Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur winger said Everton “felt like home” from the minute he arrived. Lennon said he had been waiting for a return to Merseyside all summer and was “so happy” a deal could be completed.

Upon his arrival in January, Lennon said that everybody made him “feel so welcome” and that it is a place where he feels “so comfortable.”

Martinez delighted with Lennon return

Everton boss Roberto Martinez also said he was “delighted” to bring Lennon back. Martinez said that he is looking forward to seeing Lennon being a “productive player” who will be “enjoying his football."

The Everton boss also said Lennon will add to the squad immediately and that he matches the “ambition” that Everton have.

Martinez missed out on a number of targets this window but adding Lennon to his squad will be a boost for everyone associated with Everton.
