This is my personal opinion of who should be starting for Hull City's Europa League qualifier with AS Trencin. The formation being Steve Bruce's favoured 3-5-2

GOALKEEPER: Allan McGregor

As Hull's number 1 goalkeeper, McGregor will be trying to prove despite his age that he's up to the challenge of keeping City in the Premier League. After a strong first season with the Tigers McGregor would love to capitalise on it with an even stronger second season. Already with some European experience under his belt, during his time at Scottish giants Rangers, he will already be well aware of what to expect from European competition. His most notable moments of last season include giving away and successfully saving a Frank Lampard penalty in his debut for City against Chelsea, also pulling off a stunning double save in the same game, and damaging his kidneys in a collision with Mohammed Diame in Hull's 2-1 defeat to West Ham.

CENTRE BACK: Curtis Davies (c)

Hull's player of the season in 2013/14, Davies was seen as one of the bargains of the season, signing for City in the summer for roughly £2.25 million, Davies proved his worth and was instrumental in Hull's FA Cup run to the final and their 16th place finish in the Premier League. Another one with some European experience under his belt, Davies will prove important for the game in Slovakia. He showed his strength in front of goal too, scoring 5 goals in all competitions, including a goal in the FA Cup Final against Arsenal. He'll be the rock we need if we are to make it in Europe this season.

CENTRE BACK: Maynor Figueroa

After his trip to Brazil with his native Honduras in the World Cup, Figueroa will be back in the Hull side wanting to help the Tigers into Europe. He formed a strong partnership at the back with Curtis Davies, he helped Hull become one of the best teams defensively in the Premier League. Although Figueroa did make a few costly errors in his debut season with City, such as his terrible backpass which put Loic Remy 1 on 1 who scored in the 4-1 home defeat to Newcastle United. Despite this he still was one of City's most important defenders and was a great deal for costless.

CENTRE BACK: James Chester

A strong young centre back who had a good season last season with Hull. Signed from Manchester United for £300,000 in January 2011, Chester has been showing promise for a few years now. This promise came good when he received a call up to the Wales national team and made his debut in a match against the Netherlands in June 2014. Despite a two month lay off due to injury, he was one of the best Centre Backs City had last season. He scored a goal in the FA Cup Final defeat to Arsenal and was surely one of his personal highlights of last season. Whatever trouble Trencin give Hull, Chester will be able to handle it.

LEFT MIDFIELD: Robert Snodgrass

One of the Tigers' new recruits, Snodgrass was a top performer for Norwich last season and will hope to improve on that for his new club. Signed for roughly £8 million, he certainly has a big fee to live up to. With 7 goals in 34 appearances, he certainly knows how to score, and that's what Hull need if they are to succeed on all fronts this season. With 15 caps for Scotland to his name as well he will add something new to the team, as well as the fact he's comfortable playing on either wing as well as up front. He now can rival Robbie Brady for the starting position on the left.

CENTRE MIDFIELD: Tom Huddlestone

One of Hull's most consistent performers of last season, Huddlestone was the star midfielder and was both strong and able to thread out a pass for the strikers. He's probably more well known outside of Hull for his 'Sideshow Bob'-esque hairdo last season, a charity based venture in which he didn't cut his hair until he scored another goal. (he did so in the 6-0 victory over Fulham) Signed from Spurs for £5 million, he certainly lived up to his price tag and was vital to City's survival cause. Also, he created a fantastic link up with former Spurs team mate Jake Livermore and he'll be a player to look against Trencin.

CENTRE MIDFIELD: Jake Livermore

Livermore spent last season on loan at Hull from Spurs, and thanks to him having a fantastic season, Steve Bruce signed him on a permanent deal for around £6.5 million. The loan means Livermore will settle in to the side with ease and hopefully will continue his strong partnership with Tom Huddlestone. Despite not being a prolific goalscorer last season, Livermore showed why he earned an England cap in 2012. He was an anchor in midfield and helped create some goals too. City fans will know what to expect of Livermore and he'll hopefully hit the heights of last season.

CENTRE MIDFIELD: David Meyler

One of Hull's Irish contingent, Meyler has become a regular first team player and has gone on to represent Ireland at senior level. His most notable moment of last season was when after a scuffle on the touchline, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew headbutted Meyler and was given an 8 match suspension. Meyler went on to mock the headbutt by headbutting the corner flag after scoring in the FA Cup Quarter Final against former club Sunderland. He's been a consistent memvber of the squad and comfortably made the step up from Championship to Premier League. He'll be fighting with the likes of Stephen Quinn for a starting position.

RIGHT MIDFIELD: Tom Ince

Perhaps one of the most intriguing signings of the summer, Ince turned down an offer from Inter Milan to sign for Hull. Son of former England international Paul Ince, Tom certainly has some big shoes to fill. He's already showed a lot of potential and now finally has a chance to prove himself in the Premier League. He had a brief spell on loan at Crystal Palace and showed glimpses of what he can do against the best. He has the ability to cause some real problems for defences and his speed will be a valuable asset for the Tigers. With the compensation fee being paid to Blackpool possibly rising to £8 million, he'll be a strong player for Hull next season.

STRIKER: Shane Long

One of Hull's January 2014 signings, Long aided Hull to safety last season. With Hull's biggest problem being goals in 2013/14, They signed Long and Nikica Jelavic to solve their problems. Long has a reputation as being a strong prolific striker. After 4 goals in 15 appearances for the Tigers last season, Long will be hoping to build on it this season, and he'll be our biggest goal threat against Trencin. An established Ireland international, Long has 47 caps and is one of Hull's most accomplished international players. Hull haven't seen much of him but this game against Trencin will hopefully give City more to see.

STRIKER: Nikica Jelavic

Hull's other January 2014 signing, Jelavic, like Long, has a good record in the Premier League. Making his name at Rangers, Jelavic moved to Everton and then Hull. Jelavic scored 4 goals in 16 appearances in his first six months on Humberside, and created some good link up play with Shane Long. Another proven international striker, with Croatia,Jelavic will offer Hull a lot in front of goal. Nearly scoring the first goal of the 2014 World Cup, (his shot deflecting off Marcelo and was deemed an own goal) Jelavic will certainly be hoping to fire Hull to both Premier League safety and a reasonable run in Europe.

SUBSTITUTES: STEVE HARPER, PAUL McSHANE, LIAM ROSENIOR, AHMED ELMOHAMADY, STEPHEN QUINN, ROBBIE BRADY, SONE ALUKO
