Hull City have completed the signing of Michael Dawson from Tottenham for an undisclosed fee.

Dawson signed a three-year deal with the Tigers on Tuesday afternoon and although he says it was a hard decision to leave previous club Tottenham Hotspur after almost ten years at White Hart Lane, he can’t wait to get started in a black and amber shirt.

“I know this club well and obviously there is some family history with my brother Andy having been here,” said Dawson.

“I’m just excited about getting started here now. The whole football club made it an attractive move to me – the manager, the squad of players, the fans. I feel ready and raring to go.

“Leaving Tottenham after ten years there was always going to be hard for me, but the chances to play there were going to be less and so a move to Hull City represented a great opportunity for me.

“At the end of the day, footballers want to play football and that wasn’t going to happen for me at Tottenham. Once the owners and the manager here had been in touch with me about the possibility of a move, I just knew it was right.

“Now my aim is to help Hull City to do as well as possible in the Premier League, and hopefully in the Europa League as well.

“We have to build on that and look forward to the season ahead.”

Dawson is the sixth addition to the Tigers’ squad this summer as manager Steve Bruce builds a squad full of depth and quality.
