On the back of a narrow 2-1 win over Sunderland on Wednesday night, the reds are ready to face a Tottenham side currently sitting in 6th place with 56 points and have now played 31 games. Liverpool however, who are hot on the heels of Chelsea at the top of the table, are only one point off being league leaders, but we must not forget that Manchester City sit only 2 points behind the redmen and still have 2 games in hand . Despite having won their last 7 games, this strong Liverpool side will realistically have to continue this unbeaten run for the rest of the season if they want to finish ahead of their toughest rivals, and with Arsenal lagging 5 points behind the reds, they are now arguably out of the title race.

After frittering away the huge profits made from selling Gareth Bale, Tottenham have had a disappointing season, and when comparing their goal difference of 0 to Liverpool's +45, it makes you wonder how this under-achieving Tottenham side might overcome Brendan Rodgers' red and white army. The last 6 games have earned them only 9 points out of a possible 18, with a mixed bag of results such as a 4-0 win over Newcastle United, a 1-0 loss to Norwich, a 4-0 thrashing by league leaders, Chelsea, and a 1-0 loss to Arsenal. This Tottenham side has now scored a total of 40 goals this season, which is less than half of Liverpool's, who sit at the top of the "goals for" chart, currently on 84. Not only have Tottenham scored significantly less goals than Liverpool overall, but have also scored 8 goals less than the red's unbeatable force of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, who are close to becoming one of the Premier League's best strike partnerships of all time.

The conceding of goals has also been an immense problem for both of these sides this year, with Tottenham letting in 40, and Liverpool only 1 behind. This suggests that both sides stand a chance of bagging a few goals in the game on Sunday, but of course Liverpool are looking more likely. With the roar of the Anfield crowd and the fans now daring to dream, it is no doubt that Liverpool, as always, will strongly feel their home-advantage.

Tottenham will be hoping not the repeat the nightmare that happened when the reds visited White Hart Lane earlier in the season, with Luis Suarez running wild and netting twice, and the young Jon Flanagan finishing off a perfect day with his first Premier League goal in a red shirt.

Will Liverpool continue their rampant run and make Tottenham Hotspur their latest victims? Only time will tell for Brendan Rodgers' men.
