Lazar Markovic joined the Liverpool ranks only a short few days ago, but the Serbian born winger has been eager to get his Anfield career off to a successful start. Having joined up with his Liverpool team-mates late last week, the former Benfica star was unable to feature in Liverpool`s second pre-season friendly of the season against Preston on Saturday, although the youngster did travel with the team and was seen on the bench, obviously taking in the experiences of being a Liverpool player, as he watched on as his new side ran out 2-1 winners.

Upon arrival in America, Markovic has hit the ground running, taking part in the first training session. As he laced up his vivid blue boots, the rather large gallery of onlookers seemed to notice that the electric youngster was wearing the number 50 jersey on his training gear. Markovic has previously worn the number 50 jersey with Benfica, and the strange number obviously was his preference whilst joining the club. Rumours circulated that `The Reds` wouldn`t issue a squad number of that nature to a player supposedly bought to be the next star around the fields of Anfield Road, with such squad numbers being aimed at the younger generation.

With new signing Rickie Lambert having been issued the number 9 jersey on Saturday, following Iago Aspas` departure, rumours are still doing the rounds amongst various media outlets, on who will be the players to be given the numbers 6, 11, and the iconic number 7 jersey, following the departures of Luis Alberto, Assaidi, and former great, Luis Suarez.
