Liverpool FC's search for a striker continues this summer, with Samuel Eto'o the latest in the line of players to be linked with a move to the Reds.

The departure of Luis Suarez has somewhat counteracted the addition of attackers to the LFC squad this summer. With Daniel Sturridge again struggling with minor injuries during preseason and Rickie Lambert yet to make an impact the search for a striker continues, with Samuel Eto'o reportedly the most recent avenue the club are exploring.

News broke last night from all journalists close to the club that Liverpool FC were considering a move for Samuel Eto'o after the Cameroonian's contract with Chelsea expired over the summer. However, all journalists (including the likes of Tony Barrett, James Pearce & Chris Bascombe) were in agreement that no formal offer had been made to Eto'o but talks had occurred between the club and the players representatives.

Respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio today also chipped into the Eto'o discussion, also suggesting that a further meeting was planned in the coming days. Di Marzio further stated that there was some distance between the players demands and the amount the club were will to offer & thus Everton are closely monitoring the situation behind the scenes.

Whether anything will come from the recent links to Eto'o remains to be seen, however, while the players age and potential wage suggests he is not a FSG type buy, the presence of Divock Origi murkies the water. Reds fans across the land will be hoping that Eto'o is a stop gap in the squad and not seen as the final solution this window.
